You can now watch one of the most costly TV seasons before its much-anticipated follow-up starts later this month, but only if you have a specific device.
Amazon has announced a partnership with Samsung that lets Samsung device owners watch The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 for free before Season 2 starts on August 29.
You can stream Season 1 via Samsung TV Plus, a free app with ads available on all Samsung TVs and mobile devices. Season 1 is available to stream for free starting today, August 15, until August 28, the day before Season 2 begins.
Season 2 of “The Rings of Power” Will Highlight the Villains
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 1 was fairly successful for Prime Video. It had high viewership when it first came out, which gradually decreased, and received good ratings from critics despite a lower audience score.
Currently, it holds an 83% rating from critics and a 38% rating from general audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The show features Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arondir, Charlie Vickers as Halbrand/Sauron, Daniel Weyman as The Stranger, Robert Aramoyo as Elrond, and more.
The series, a spin-off from The Lord of the Rings, was created for TV by Patrick McKay and John D. Payne, based on the characters and world from J.R.R. Tolkien’s work.
Season 2 of The Rings of Power will shift focus to the villains. The first season had a lot of setup for a bigger story, but the creators have promised that the second season will jump straight into action.
After the surprising end of the first season where Halbrand was revealed as Sauron, the series now needs to highlight him as the main villain. Several cast members have mentioned that Season 2 will focus on the villains, and the season will start with a flashback of Sauron. Fans of great villains have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now available to stream on Samsung TV Plus for Samsung device users. For updates and more coverage of the series, stay tuned to Otakukart. If you don’t have a Samsung device, you can watch the first season on Prime Video.
