Musician Damon Albarn and visual artist Jamie Hewlett established the English virtual band Gorillaz. In this one-of-a-kind band, animated characters stand in for the band members. The group’s first studio album, which bears the same name, was released on March 26, 2000.
Significant chart success was achieved by the album, which peaked at number two on the New Zealand album chart and number three on the UK, Australian, and German charts. After the success of their debut album, the group followed it up with “Demon Days” on May 11, 2005. The album was the group’s first to reach the top of the charts, landing at number one in the UK, France, and Switzerland.
On March 3, 2010, the group issued “Plastic Beach,” their third studio album. The album extended the band’s winning streak, peaking at the top of the album charts in Austria and Australia. On the Billboard 200 album chart as well as the charts for the UK, France, Switzerland, and Switzerland, the album reached number 2. The Fall, the group’s fourth studio album, was made available on December 25, 2010.
The album only reached number 12 on the UK album chart, not as high as the band’s earlier releases. Seven years after their previous album, the group made a strong comeback with “Humanz,” their fifth studio album, which was released on April 28, 2017. On the Austrian and Swiss album charts, the album reached its peak as the number-one album.
“The Now Now,” the group’s sixth studio album, was released on June 29, 2018. The album peaked at number four on the Australian, Canadian, Irish, and Billboard 200 album charts, despite not being as popular as its predecessor albums.

News regarding their latest tour
Gorillaz’s “The Getaway 2023” mini-tour, which was planned for later this summer, has apparently been suspended. The band was scheduled to perform four times on the tour, which was announced last month, in Los Angeles, Austin, Chicago, and Boston between September 10 and September 19.
Ticketmaster informed customers who had already purchased tickets for the tour on Wednesday (20th June) that it would no longer be happening. The ‘virtual’ band had invited Remi Wolf, Kaytranada, and Lil Yachty to join them on tour, which has since been canceled.
Due to the tour’s cancellation, personalized emails of apology were sent to ticket holders and fans. According to reports, a combination of unforeseen events resulted in a scheduling issue, forcing the band to postpone the gigs.

“Due to scheduling conflicts and circumstances beyond our control, the previously announced Gorillaz shows in September have been canceled,” the industry leader in ticketing informed its guests by email. “Refunds will be issued automatically at your point of purchase and will be processed as quickly as possible; there is nothing further for you to do at this time. Please allow for up to 30 days for the refund to process.”
A word from the Gorillaz
Gorillaz expressed their disappointment at having to cancel the performances in an email to their fans, who had been informed of the cancellation in advance. They penned their followers a special note that read, “We are gutted not to be able to perform for you this year. We were really looking forward to it, and we hope to get back to you again as soon as we can. We love our Gorillaz family, and we can’t wait to see you again.”

The Gorillaz’s eighth studio album, “Cracker Island,” was released earlier this year, and the four gigs that were canceled were promoted as the band’s final US dates in support of it. The new album contains a number of joint songs, such as the De La Soul-assisted track “Crocadillaz,” which also includes a verse from the recently deceased group member Trugoy The Dove.
The album was released 18 years after Gorillaz and the illustrious hip-hop group initially collaborated on the smash hit “Feel Good Inc.” Gorillaz used location-based augmented reality technology to post exclusive video performances on famous international locations to promote the new album.
Fans react to the devastating news
The announcement disappointed the virtual band’s supporters, and many of them expressed their disappointment on social media. Many others expressed their grief over the news. Many people who had been waiting for a Gorillaz concert to be within their means for some time expressed their outrage at the cancellation. Some continued by saying that the pricey tickets should be refunded as quickly as feasible.
