Ubisoft has broken its silence on the future of the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise after leaked store listings revealed the existence of Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition. While the publisher stopped short of confirming the leaked details, it announced that fans can expect more news on August 6, when the series celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The brief statement has fueled speculation that Ubisoft may reveal more than just the remastered edition, with fans also hoping for an update on the franchise’s long-rumored next mainline entry.
Ubisoft Teases Ghost Recon Announcement
Following the online discovery of the Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition, Ubisoft revived the franchise’s official X account to tease an upcoming reveal.
In its message, Ubisoft confirmed that more Ghost Recon news will be shared on August 6, aligning with the series’ 25th anniversary celebration. Although the publisher did not directly address the leaked product listing, the timing strongly suggests additional details are on the way.
Leaked Ubisoft Store images describe the Definitive Edition as including the base game, the Season Pass, Year 2 Pass, Deluxe Pack, Quick Start Pack, Cold Eye Pack, and Nightfall Protocol Pack. The listing also references a new “Last Rights” mission, alongside 4K resolution and 60 FPS enhancements, leading many fans to expect native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
Originally released in 2017, Ghost Recon Wildlands marked the franchise’s shift toward an open-world tactical shooter and became one of Ubisoft’s biggest commercial successes. Its sequel, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, launched in 2019 but received a more mixed reception, leaving the series largely inactive in recent years.
Beyond the Definitive Edition, attention has also turned to the franchise’s rumored next installment. Multiple reports have suggested Ubisoft is developing a new Ghost Recon game under the codename Project OVR, although the publisher has yet to officially reveal the project.
