Providing an inside look into what was going on inside the Playboy Mansion, the anthology series, The Playboy Murders, has lately become the source of ID’s increased viewership. This is no surprise as the show is not only interesting but also helps spread awareness of the poor victims who were just looking for fame.
It was seen for the first time on television on January 23rd, 2023. Set to have a short first season, The Playboy Murders was announced a few months before its release on streaming platforms. The series is produced by Holly Madison, with production companies like All3 Media and Lion Television. Holly claimed that the show had a lot to offer in the genre of crime and mysteries, with the victims being relatable to a large audience.
When it started airing, the show had a similar format to other crime documentaries that usually involved an actor recreating the scenes while guests and witnesses from the actual incident provided a deeper explanation of the situation. Playboy used to be one of the most prestigious companies of its time, with everyone who was associated with it gaining popularity in no time. This is what attracted most of its innocent victims, who thought Playboy would help them reach stardom.
Playboy was first created in 1953 by Hugh Hefner. The first ever photograph he published was of Marilyn Monroe, which became a big hit as soon as it was launched. This led to the start of his career as the owner of Playboy. The magazine became so popular that everyone who was featured in it would gain temporary A-list celebrity-type fame. Emphasis on the “temporary” as after their issue was old enough, these women would often fall into terrible lives filled with drugs, prostitution, and much more dangerous things.
Soon, people began noticing that most of the playmates or the bunnies would just vanish after their time was over. Some showed up dead in random places, while some were seen trying to get back to a normal life. The Playboy Murders covers the mysterious cases of some of these women who faced the fatal consequences of joining the organization.
The Playboy Murders: Playmates Featured
Throughout its six episodes, the ID show was able to feature stories about six different playmates and bunnies. The first case was of Jasmine Fiore, a model who used to work for a playboy who was found in a suitcase. Police began suspecting the cartels since the area she was found in was known for such occurrences.
They could not identify her body since all signs of identity were removed, such as fingerprints, hair, face, and everything. This case was almost closed until the detectives found another way of identifying the body, through her breast implants. It was only after sending these to the lab that the identity of the body was revealed to be Jasmine.
The episode covered the case of Stacy Arthur, another Playboy model. She was found lying near a gun shop with multiple shots on her. Stacy used to be a manager of a craft store and met Jim at the age of 19. She started participating in Paegeants after being married to Jim. Although her husband only wanted her to achieve her dreams, he became the reason for her downfall. Jim sent her pictures to Playboy, and soon enough, Stacey began working as a model at the mansion.
Most of the women featured in this season of The Playboy Murders were only ambitious women hoping that fame would bring them the life they wished for. Some were scouted, few had someone else send in their pictures for them, while others voluntarily became involved with Playboy.
The last episodes of the show talked about the deaths of Playboy Centerfolds like Star Stowe. These are models who become the top in the house and magazine, but the price they pay for it is much darker than it may seem.
The Playboy Murders: Will There Be An Episode 7?
The ID show was only aired as a six-part series, with the final episode airing on February 27th, 2023. Although there won’t be a 7th episode, there’s going to be another season released soon. Investigation Discovery announced that The Playboy Murders would be having another installment along with another similar series on the platform. With the production of the show already beginning this month, we’ll be seeing The Playboy Murders Season 2 on television later this year or by the start of next year.
