‘The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today’ is a delightfully funny manga about a cat who does more cooking, cleaning, and adulting than the woman who expected him to be a pet, created by Hitsuji Yamada. Saku is a typical young woman who works long hours and lives with her cat, Yukichi, alone. Yukichi, on the other hand, is not your typical home cat. Saku never imagined a stray black cat to become the equivalent of a housekeeping lifemate when she took him home. But Yukichi, a colossal feline who towers over Saku, is no ordinary kitty. He takes tremendous pleasure in his cooking abilities, and a good grocery bargain always makes his whiskers twitch. Saku may not have it all together just yet, but she does have Yukichi.
The cat spends his days cooking, cleaning, and maintaining for her so that she may continue to work and purchase him cat food. It’s a very mild slice-of-life comedy, with a running gag about how no one seems to notice the enormous cat shopping at the grocery store or that if they do, they just assume he’s a person in a promotional mascot outfit.

Written and illustrated by Hitsuji Yamada, Hitsuji Yamada wrote and illustrated this book. The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today began serialization on August 22, 2018, in Kodansha’s Suiyobi no Sirius online manga section on the Nico Nico Seiga website. On October 26, 2021, it was also published in Monthly Shonen Sirius. Individual volumes have been published by Kodansha. On April 9, 2019, the first volume was released. Five volumes have been released as of June 9, 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the manga for English distribution in North America.
