FromSoftware’s upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods has generated more applications for its closed network test than Elden Ring: Nightreign, according to producer Yasuhiro Kitao. The comments came during a recent Famitsu livestream.
“We were actually very surprised that the number of applicants for the network test for The Duskbloods was greater than those for Elden Ring: Nightreign,”
Kitao said.
Kitao suggested that some players may initially have been hesitant about Nightreign because of its multiplayer-focused design, but interest could have grown after players experienced the game following launch. He believes that positive reception may have encouraged more fans to sign up for The Duskbloods’ test.
The closed network test ran from August 21 to August 24, allowing selected players to experience the upcoming multiplayer action game. The opening session faced server problems and was canceled early, but later sessions continued as planned.
The strong number of applicants is notable because The Duskbloods is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, a newer platform with a smaller install base. The game remains scheduled for release in 2026, with Nintendo and FromSoftware yet to announce a final release date.
