Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has offered another update on the company’s plans for Grand Theft Auto 6, although PC players are still waiting for a concrete release announcement. During Take-Two’s annual shareholders meeting, Zelnick was asked about the company’s approach to PC releases and whether potential PlayStation 5 Pro hardware shortages could affect its plans for GTA 6. His response stopped short of confirming a PC version or release window.
At the same meeting, Zelnick also addressed the future of GTA Online. He emphasized that GTA 6 is currently being positioned as a single-player experience, while GTA 5 Online remains financially significant for Take-Two and will continue receiving support. The comments provide some insight into how Rockstar Games and Take-Two are approaching the transition between the two Grand Theft Auto generations.
Take-Two Says PC Is Becoming More Important
The question about GTA 6 and PC releases came as Take-Two continues to keep the game’s initial launch focused on consoles. The company has confirmed GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but has not announced a PC release date.
According to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, speaking during the company’s shareholder meeting, Take-Two generally aims to release games on platforms with a meaningful audience. He specifically acknowledged the growing importance of PC gaming to the publisher.
“The PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time,”
Zelnick said.
However, he did not confirm when GTA 6 could arrive on PC. Zelnick explained that Take-Two considers the timing of PC launches on a case-by-case basis rather than following a universal release strategy.
The comments follow previous statements from Zelnick indicating that PC audiences can represent a substantial portion of sales for major Take-Two releases. Despite that importance, GTA 6 is still scheduled to debut on consoles first.

GTA Online Will Continue After GTA 6
Zelnick also discussed the future of GTA Online, which has remained one of Take-Two’s strongest ongoing businesses since launching alongside GTA 5.
While speculation continues over when GTA 6 could introduce its own online component, Zelnick stressed that Rockstar’s next mainline game is currently being presented as a single-player experience.
He also made clear that Take-Two has no plans to abandon GTA Online. During the meeting, Zelnick described GTA 5 Online as “a robust business for us” and confirmed that the company will continue supporting it.
That means GTA Online is expected to remain active even as Rockstar prepares for GTA 6. The company has not officially announced a separate GTA 6 multiplayer release date, meaning reports and speculation about when a new online mode could arrive should not be treated as confirmed information.
For now, Rockstar’s officially announced GTA 6 launch remains centered on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while Take-Two continues to describe PC as an increasingly important platform. At the same time, GTA Online will continue operating as a major part of the Grand Theft Auto ecosystem rather than immediately being replaced by the upcoming sequel.
