Swiping America is an unscripted reality dating show from HBO Max that puts four New Yorkers outside their comfort zone when it comes to dating. They’ll go across the United States going on dates, hooking up, having one-night stands, and letting us know how they feel about it. It seems ambitious and edgy, but after all, that’s what HBO’s productions are all about; they’re gambling on what works. The show is part of this season’s bet from HBO Max to include unscripted series into their grill after the acquisition of Discovery and its filial networks. The premise sounds relatively simple for us viewers, but not so much for the participants, a total of four, who will embark on a journey across America’s cities fated to find a date. They have different aspirations and hopes, from finding themselves to finding a romantic partner or a friend, and we’ll see how they do along the way.
For the show, the producers went and found about 140 dates for the four New Yorkers that will go on this loving endeavor. These are Ashleigh Warren, Kesun Lee, Kris Kelkar, and Reagan Baker.
