Synopsis
Shark Tank India back with a brand-new season, and Vineeta Singh and Ghazal Alagh, Ashneer Grover, Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta, Piyush Bansal, and Anupam Mittal serve as the show’s judges.
On the American Shark Tank, aspiring businesses and entrepreneurs make bids in an effort to persuade the investor panel to invest money in their ideas. Companies from a broad spectrum of sectors are drawn to the show, which provides them with an opportunity to expose their business to the public.
By asking startups and budding companies to present their deals on the show, the Indian adaptation of Shark Tank achieves the same goal.
However, unlike the American Version, Beyond the tank and Swimming with the Sharks are two special segments that have been included to Season 2 of Shark Tank India.
Beyond the Tank provides a current status of the past Shark Tank participants and their growth since their visit to the show, whilst Swimming with the Sharks concentrates on the judges’ personal and professional life.
Shark Tank India Season 2: Brief Recap of What Happened Previously
In the latest episode of Shark Tank India Season 2 which came out on 8th March, 2023, four companies came to pitch in their deals in hopes of an investment from the Sharks – Ruban, Same Notification, Bottom Line Sprays and Lil’ Goodness were the contestants for Episode 48.
Ruban, a fashion jewellery brand founded by Chinu in 2014 pitched a deal of 1.5 crore rupees ($15 million) for 0.5% equity. The judges were intrigued by the brand as well as the brand owner, and hence pitched in deals of their own.
While Anupam offered 1.5 crore for 1.5% interest with no debt, Aman, Namita and Vineeta offer 1 crore for 1% equity and 50 lakh in debt at 12% interest. Ruban decides the offer of the latter is more suitable for their company and go with that.
Up next, Ilesh pitches Same Notification app for 25 lacks for 15% equity. The app essentially is designed for parents to keep track of what their kids are doing.
As the app is an invasion of personal privacy and can be counter productive, the judges back out from investing.
Similarly the next contestants. Aadil Attarwala and Prarthana Shah pitch in Bottom Line Sprays, a portable jet spray, asking 35 lacks for 5% equity.
The judges believed the market for this product was limited and the founders still need time to grow their business mindset.
Last but not lease, Lil’ Goodness, a company that strives to make snacks like chocolates and puffs healthier to the gut ask for 1 crore for 1% equity.
With haldi (turmeric) in their chocolates, super grains and quinoa in their puffs and an overall lovwer sugar % in their products, the judges were eager to invest in the product.
Peyush in the end offered ₹ 50 Lakhs for 1% Equity and ₹ 50 Lakhs Debt at 10% Interest, and the company gladly took up the offer.
