Let’s know the Ridley Filming Locations. The British police procedural drama series “Ridley” on PBS was created by Paul Matthew Thompson (of “Vera”) and Jonathan Fisher and is based on true stories of retired police officers.
Adrian Dunbar plays retired detective Alex Ridley, who is called back into service as a consultant just 18 months after his early retirement due to having a nervous breakdown. He had to cope with the death of his wife and children in a house fire, which is why it occurred.
Ridley, a part-time pianist and vocalist in his own jazz club, is persuaded to return to his previous position by DI Carol Farman, his replacement and former protégé. The recently promoted Carol receives some much-needed help to solve a challenging murder case because she is eager to gain insight into Ridley’s special case-solving techniques.
When a local farmer is discovered dead, Ridley is asked to help with a missing person investigation that has been open for 13 years by his former coworker and recently promoted DI Carol Farman.
The case of the kidnapping of Hannah Lindsay was not very sure for Ridley that it is invalid, and the investigation that was done around that case was also not proper due to that they discovered another body when they were digging deeper into that particular case.
Ridley was also asked by Carrol to help in that case when they discovered the young woman’s death on a Pennine moorland, and was buried in a shallow grave. But Ridley goes to the case of the jazz singer’s brother, who has been missing for the last 40 years, and he goes on to search for him, but in the end, both cases are connected with each other.
The crime mystery series takes place in rural Lancashire, England, as Carol and Ridley visit several locations in search of information on the murder case. Therefore, if you’re wondering where “Ridely” is filmed, we’ve got you covered!

Ridley Filming Locations
The entire English portion of “Ridley” was shot in Lancashire, Yorkshire, and Bolton. Principal photography for the first season reportedly started in November 2021 and ended in mid-April 2022. Without further ado, let’s travel to each of the exact places that are mentioned in the PBS series!
Lancashire, England
In locations around Lancashire, the ceremonial, non-metropolitan, and historic county located in North West England, are where the majority of “Ridley” was shot. Many important scenes for the crime series are taped at an actual farm close to the town of Rawtenstall in the borough of Rossendale.
Another crucial venue for the show’s production is the Masons Arms pub, which can be found at 6 Co-Operation Street in the hamlet of Crawshawbooth, which is close to Rawtenstall.
Other Locations in England
The production team travels to different areas in England, notably the storied county of Yorkshire, for shooting purposes. Cast and crew personnel were seen filming numerous significant sequences near the Todmorden Moor wind farm near the Lancashire/Yorkshire border as well as the canal in Todmorden in late January 2022.
Many residents and bystanders observed many extras dressed as barristers in and around Le Mans Crescent, which is regarded as Bolton’s most recognizable landmark, during the latter stages of the first season’s filming.
Watergrove Reservoir, which is close to Wardle in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, and Hollingworth Lake at Smithy Bridge in Littleborough, both in England’s Greater Manchester, are also used for a few more scenes for “Ridley.”
DI Carol Farman’s on-screen counterpart, Bronagh Waugh, discussed the shooting locations with Bradford Zone. “Set against this gorgeous Yorkshire and Lancashire vista makes it a very different show,” she remarked. It’s pretty isolated. The thing that distinguishes it is the sense of a little town or village. It’s not attempting to be an intense city drama.
