Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Players Can Easily Catch Shiny White-Striped Basculin and Feebas in New Limited-Time Mass Outbreak Event

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players have a limited-time opportunity to catch two of the hardest-to-find Pokémon in the game. As part of the latest Summer 2026 Mass Outbreak events, White-Striped Basculin and Feebas are now appearing through guaranteed outbreaks in Kitakami, dramatically increasing the chances of finding their shiny forms and Pokémon with rare Marks. However, there is one major requirement: players must own The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero: The Teal Mask DLC to access the event locations. 

The event runs until August 6, 2026, giving trainers several days to add these sought-after Pokémon to their collections before the boosted encounters disappear.

Guaranteed Mass Outbreaks Make Rare Pokémon Easier to Find

Under normal conditions, both White-Striped Basculin and Feebas are among the rarest Mass Outbreak spawns in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. White-Striped Basculin is normally limited to a small area near the Timeless Woods in Kitakami, while Feebas is also an uncommon encounter, making shiny hunting either Pokémon a lengthy process.

During the current event, however, both species appear in guaranteed daily Mass Outbreaks, giving players repeated opportunities to hunt for shiny variants and Pokémon with special Marks. Feebas has an increased chance of carrying the Prideful Mark, while White-Striped Basculin is more likely to feature the Ferocious Mark. Trainers can further improve their odds by using sandwiches that boost shiny encounters or Mark rates.

A Chance to Obtain Basculegion and Milotic

The event also makes it significantly easier to obtain Basculegion and Milotic, two Pokémon that have remained difficult to acquire in Scarlet and Violet because of their rare pre-evolutions.

After catching a White-Striped Basculin, players can evolve it into Basculegion by allowing it to accumulate 294 points of recoil damage without fainting, then leveling it up. Meanwhile, Feebas evolves into Milotic through trading while holding the required evolution item.

These Pokémon have gained additional value beyond Scarlet and Violet. Basculegion has emerged as a strong option in Pokémon Champions, while Milotic continues to be a popular competitive choice thanks to its Competitive Ability, which punishes Intimidate users. Milotic is also notable because Pokémon Legends: Z-A requires players to obtain it through trading, making a Scarlet and Violet capture useful for future transfers via Pokémon HOME.

Players Can Preserve the Event After It Ends

One additional benefit highlighted by the community is that players can effectively keep the event active beyond August 6. As long as they avoid connecting the game online after the event expires, the existing Mass Outbreak data remains available, allowing them to continue shiny hunting until they reconnect to Nintendo’s servers.

Combined with the ongoing 7-Star Magikarp the Unrivaled Tera Raid, the Summer 2026 events provide some of the best reasons for returning to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet before attention shifts toward the franchise’s next generation of titles.
