Palworld has made an impressive comeback following its long-awaited Version 1.0 launch, earning strong player reception on Steam while continuing to attract a large audience. According to Steam250, the survival game is currently the highest-reviewed Steam release of 2026, putting it ahead of other well-received titles.
The milestone caught the attention of Pocketpair’s publishing and communications head John “Bucky” Buckley, who credited the game’s players for its success. In a post on X, Buckley highlighted the response to Palworld’s 1.0 release and thanked fans for supporting the game throughout its development.
Pocketpair Credits Fans for Palworld’s Strong Steam Reception
Buckley described the response to Palworld Version 1.0 as overwhelming, writing that the game being Steam’s highest-reviewed release of 2026 was an achievement worth celebrating. He also reflected on the game’s journey since its Early Access launch and expressed gratitude toward the community.
The Pocketpair executive later addressed the criticism Palworld has faced since its release.
“Obviously it’s trendy and meta to shit on Palworld,”
Buckley said, before arguing that the game’s player reception speaks for itself. He described that reception as “nothing short of miraculous” and emphasized that the fans are responsible for making the game what it is today.
Steam currently lists Palworld with an Overwhelmingly Positive user rating, while the game also remains among Steam’s most-played titles.
Despite the game’s strong commercial performance and player reception, Buckley is already joking about its chances at upcoming award ceremonies.

he wrote.
Buckley clarified that Pocketpair itself would not be particularly concerned because the studio’s priority is making games. However, he jokingly admitted that
“I’ll be salty as an individual!”
