New Apple TV+ show Palm Royale is a funny story set in the late 1960s. It follows Maxine (played by Kristen Wiig), who just moved to Palm Beach. Maxine has one big goal: to join a fancy country club called The Palm Royale.
But this club is super exclusive and expensive, so it won’t be easy for Maxine to get in. Palm Beach has always been a playground for the rich and famous, like John F. Kennedy who had a winter White House there.
Ricky Martin, who stars in the new show Palm Royale, says the show reflects how society was divided back then and how things haven’t really changed much. He says there are still exclusive clubs today, just like the one in the show.
Where is The Show Filmed?
The story of Palm Royale takes place in Palm Beach, Florida, but filming mostly happened elsewhere in the state. Even though they aren’t in the same spot, the show makes it clear how different Palm Beach and West Palm Beach are. There’s a water difference, but also a big difference between rich and poor people.
The show wasn’t filmed in Palm Beach because of filming rules. Instead, they filmed in other parts of Florida. Even though filming wasn’t in Palm Beach, the costumes and sets make the show look like it’s really there in 1969.
Is The Palm Royale A Real Place?
While The Palm Royale isn’t real, the show depicts its luxurious setting, inspired by clubs like the Everglades Club. To join, it requires a hefty fee and sponsorship from three members. Maxine faces hurdles to be accepted, from money issues to pressure from the club’s elite.
Palm Royale is set in Palm Beach, Florida, showcasing the divide between it and West Palm Beach, both geographically and socially. It delves into class differences, contrasting the two worlds.
