OGM pictures’ production and creation of the established director Cem Karcı, Ömer is the Turkish remake of the huge hit and award winner Israeli series- ‘Shtisel.’ Ömer follows a heart-touching love story full of trials and tribulations. Gamze and Omer- the main characters, have an obvious attraction towards each other, but their families and problematic situations that keep arising hold them back from giving in.
The STAR TV’s much-anticipated program began on Monday, January 9th, 2023. It has a conservative Imam father, in the form of Resat, Omar’s father, who has planned out his son’s entire life before him and wants it to go exactly his way.
When deviations occur, Omar is distracted from the development required by his father, and Resat aggressively protests and actively refuses his desires. Such was the case with Omar’s first love, painting, and happens again when he comes to love another- Gamza.
Gamza has battles of her own to fight to be a single mother to her son and a divorced woman. She is questioned, scolded, and scorned by society when she returns to her former neighborhood after a long while, where she meets Omar, who is Muezzin, at the Mosque where his father is the mentor.
Omar is a soft soul who has become fragile from the sadness he has gone through with his strict father’s approaches, his mother’s demise, and his sister Nisa’s marriage. Nisa, whom he regarded as a motherly figure in his life, marries against their father and brother Tahir’s wishes and is cast out from the family.
Struggling in their lives when the two different characters meet and easily fall in love with just one look at one another, they realize they are in trouble. Aside from their own emotional reservations, their families and society continue to oppose and create trouble for the couple.
