Nintendo has released updated software sales figures as part of its August 2026 financial results, revealing that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart World remain the company’s biggest performers on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, respectively. The latest numbers cover sales through the end of June 2026 and showcase the continued momentum of Nintendo’s first-party lineup.
Mario Kart continues to lead Nintendo’s software sales
According to Nintendo’s official financial report, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has reached 71.53 million units sold, extending its position as the best-selling Nintendo Switch game of all time. On Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World has already sold 15.39 million copies, making it the platform’s top-selling title just months after launch.
Other major Switch 2 releases also posted strong results, including Pokemon Pokopia with more than 5 million units, Donkey Kong Bananza at 4.78 million, and Pokemon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition with 3.99 million copies sold.
On the original Nintendo Switch, evergreen hits continue to perform well. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has climbed to 50.29 million units, while Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey have all surpassed 30 million lifetime sales.
Nintendo also confirmed that Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream has nearly reached 8 million copies sold, continuing its strong commercial run. Meanwhile, recent releases such as Rhythm Heaven Groove and Splatoon Raiders were absent from the updated million-seller list because they launched after the reporting period ended, while Star Fox also did not appear in the latest figures.
The updated sales data reinforces Nintendo’s strategy of relying on long-selling first-party franchises, with the Mario Kart series continuing to drive software sales across two console generations.
