TLC’s reality series My 600-lb Life will soon release a new episode that will document the life of another person who could be classified as morbidly obese. The show captures their progress over weeks to months as they try to reduce their weight to a much more healthy level.
First seen on February 1st, 2012, this series has covered the life of countless individuals who had been going through hard times due to their excessive weight. From not being able to do everyday tasks to developing severe health issues, the people the show features have strong reasons behind their goal of reducing their weight. At times, we also see “Where are they Now?” episodes that cover the stories of the individuals already featured on My 600-lb Life.
The show is created by Younan Nowzaradan, a bariatric surgery specialist who helps these people lose their extra pounds by first making easy changes such as more exercise, conscious eating, a healthy diet, and much more. After offering primary help, he also offers the person surgery that would help reduce their weight.
Most often the surgery is only performed when there’s a risk of a much more complicated health issue that could happen if things are left just the way they are. With 11 seasons to date, this series has managed to become one of the most-watched documentary shows on TLC. The latest season of My 600-lb life has been airing since February 1st, 2023.
My 600-lb Life Season 11 Episode 4: Recap
In previous episodes, we see the journeys of Geno, Nicos, Latonya, Wess, and Syreeta. Hailing from Danevang, Texas, this 36-year-old had lost hope of being healthy one day and was grateful to live another day. The fear of losing his ability to walk has kept him anxious, especially since he also suffers from Lymphedema.
Wess compares his walk to penguins since his body fat weighs much more than he can handle. Bathing has become a task since it leaves him breathless. Wess usually does not wear clothes at home to allow him to move freely. Eating food became a coping mechanism against his past trauma.
After the internet came to his town, Wess was able to get funds to help pay the rent and live by himself. His father Rick helps him travel around the town since Wess can’t fit behind a steering wheel. Tired of how he lives, he decides to visit a famous doctor who could help him. He takes a road trip to Dr. Now’s hospital. He meets up with the doctor to discuss his weight, now about 705 pounds.
Dr. Now gives him a diet that would help him lose 100 pounds, enabling surgery as a means to help later on. We see Wess following the diet the doctor has given him, and all his junk food is taken away. Over a month, he manages to reduce his weight to around 500 pounds.
Another story we see is of Syreeta, who cannot take help from anyone due to her always being paranoid that they could have ulterior motives. Now finally being able to trust her husband, she has decided to get herself checked with Dr. Now and go for surgery to help her become healthy again.
