Following ‘The Social Network,’ David Fincher’s second biopic, ‘Mank,’ is a black-and-white historical drama about how the screenplay for ‘Citizen Kane’ was written. It centers on Herman J. Mankiewicz, an experienced screenwriter recruited by Orson Welles, who is 24 years old, to create the script for his first film. Mank Filming Locations: Where Was Mank Filmed?

In December 2019, an 80-person production staff arrived in Victorville with trucks loaded with historical items, 1930s autos, and other stuff to transport the historic property back to the 1940s. It was crucial for director of photography Don Burt and set designer Jan Pascale to make the movie feel as real as possible. Burt discovered that the North Verde Ranch was still mostly intact after doing some investigation. It was crucial since the routes to Victorville and the property made the film feel “so remote in the desert,” according to Burt.
The main home of the Kemper Campbell Ranch was built in 1929. The home is made of adobe bricks constructed from resources on the ranch that were sun-dried. Ranch Owners Were Happy With The Film Production
Despite the odd commotion, Doyle said it was easy to get caught up in the history of Kemper Campbell Ranch, which includes Mankiewicz, Welles, and “Citizen Kane.” Pascale stated that after the film was completed, the crew donated the antique objects to prop houses for reuse and repurposing. Pascale observed that many elements purchased for specific films return in others.
Kemper Campbell Ranch’s person in charge, Peggy Shaughnessy, claimed she and owner Scott Campbell were “worried” about the work done. However, she concluded that the experience was great and that Netflix hired “the finest of the best” for the crew. Kemper Campbell Ranch has built a reputation as a vacation property and wedding site, hosting events like the Victorville Chamber of Commerce’s yearly mixer. However, due to “Mank,” Shaughnessy claims that interest in the ranch was increased.
