There have been many MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online) games, such as Counter-Strike, Call Of Duty: Warzone, Destiny 2, etc. LEAP falls in the same category. Like the previously mentioned games, LEAP is bringing cross-platform compatibility, but for some weird reason, it is not accessible, unlike the other mentioned games.
Many consider LEAP as a combination of two different MMORPGs: Apex Legends and Battlefield. LEAP has been developed by Blue Isle Studios and was published by Blue Isle Publishing.

Storyline
The game is set in a place called Thunder Valley and shows us a character who is a cybernetically enhanced male called LEAP mercenary. This cybernetically enhanced male is unaware of his surroundings and lacks self-awareness. But he is not the only one to exist. Many like him have a very destructive nature.
You are told they will do anything for money and are always hungry. When said they will do anything, the developers mean that they are willing to kill anyone if given the right price by the mercenaries. They are supposedly the only species that kills people for entertainment’s sake.
The initially shown mercenary sitting in the doughnut and chilling in the lake is considered peaceful and getting in touch with nature. But we are proved wrong as some spaceship comes and starts shooting at the cybernetically enhanced male. He becomes the character you will be playing in the entire game.
Gameplay
Leap was initially released on 1st June 2022 as an early release in the beta phase, but this year, they released the entire game. The final game was released on 1st March 2023, which is not far from this review being written, and a few things might change in the gameplay from when you are reading this article.
The game has a very user-friendly interface. Nothing is really out of place, and settings are easy to find and navigate. Without changing any brightness and contrast in the game, it feels a tad bit too dark, like there are colors present, but it is very dark. Below the attached, you can see that the colors are not popping; instead, they look dull.
LEAP has an amazing feature added to the game, allowing you to revive your teammate. Yes, this exists in many games, such as Apex Legends, while other games, like Call Of Duty: Warzone, auto-revive after a waiting period.
But instead, this game lets other players revive without picking your flag or belongings. This was something new that had not been observed in many games.
LEAP has a campaign mode but knows that the map locations in this particular game are not up to the mark. The map felt like it had different elements from different games, and it did not have something unique. There is no skill-based matching thus, which is a big advantage for many people.
In campaign mode, there will be different locations that need to be conquered to win the game. This did feel like a copy of Call Of Duty, but moving on.
When you capture one location and let us say that one of the enemies dies, they get to choose which location to spawn in. This choice is particularly questionable as it makes it easier for the enemies, and there is no fixed spot to respawn.
Like Apex Legends, there are grapple hooks, but there are no complaints here. They make commuting easier and have a smooth animation whenever something is being grappled. If you are creative enough, you can also try doing some stunts with the grapple hook. Many have done the Spiderman swing using the grapple hook.
The campaigning mode is very happening, and some people like it, but others don’t. Many do like the happening modes as you don’t specifically have to search for the enemy, and you can just randomly shoot, hoping the enemy dies.
But there is another group of people who particularly do not like a crowded game because they don’t get time to breathe and devise a strategy to defeat their enemies.
Honest Opinions
So many of you are wondering if the game is worth it for around $30. Well, let me tell you something it is not worth it. This is one of those games that should get free to play. If it does not, it will die soon. But that won’t be the only reason it dies, as many don’t even know this game exists.
There are many players in the game, but not enough to make it a trend or enough to make big streamers stream this game. Blue Isle Publishing must ensure they spend more on marketing because people need to be aware of this game. Well, since the game combines Apex Legends and Battlefield, they bring in some of the elements from these games.
Apex Legends they have the shield concept, grapple hook concept, and even the damage meter on how much damage has been done also is taken. Still, given that it has been a very common concept in MMORPG to have it, you also have abilities such as going invisible, and many more things have been taken from the games.
They do introduce something fun that is almost not there in many games, and that is the introduction of swords. Not many games do have such as Call Of Duty, Apex Legends, Battlefield, Fortnite, etc., do not have any swords in the gameplay and are not even unlockable weapons.
When you are killing an enemy and they are about to die, the game makes a little sound to let you know that the enemy will die in a few more shots. The gunfight is normal; nothing extraordinary has been added to the games.
As mentioned before, the maps are not that interesting, and neither is the gameplay. The game has issues, such as if you hit the “Play Now” button, it does not start a match; instead, you must go to the server browser to play.
The game gives you four different Exo suits with unique abilities. When you die in the game, you can change the Exo suit, which would also change the special ability the Exo suit has. One peculiar thing is that the loadout is fixed with the Exo suit, and that cannot be changed. This concept is taken from Call Of Duty but lets the player choose the abilities.
Our Verdict
I recommend you not purchase this game yet as it is yet to get better and become a better game. The game does not get many elements right, and hopefully, Blue Isle Studios will change that with future updates. If the game does not come in the sale and you want to play it, I personally feel that you should wait for some time as there is nothing you are going to be missing out on. The game should try to make its unique identity because, as of now, it just feels like a combination of a few games together. All these could have been overlooked if the game was free, but for a game that is costing you, this game is not worth it right now. I would personally rate this game a 2.4/5.
