INFINITE may have a dicey and questionable future together as a group. But its members are still close and catch up with each other. One news that has been brewing all over is INFINITE’s members Sungjong and Woohyun’s interaction at the former’s radio show. The duo left some not so cryptic comments about their label Woolim Entertainment. Sungjong had left Woolim Entertainment after his contract expired, but Woohyun still functions under Woolim.
Sungjong hosts a radio show, Idol Blossom, which works through the metaverse community Blabla. He has been the host for both seasons of the show. Recently he invited his INFINITE member Woohyun for an interview, where they spilled tea (literally) about Woolim Entertainment. Infinite was the first boy group to debut under the label in 2010. Other groups like the Golden Child and Rocket Punch and soloist Eunbi are a part of this label. After every member of infinite left Woolim after their contracts expired, only Woohyun stayed back.
Who Are INFINITE And Its Members?
Infinite, the first boy group to debut under Woolim Entertainment, has been one of the most successful boy groups. The group comprised seven members when it debuted, but in 2017, one of the members didn’t renew the contract, leaving six members in the group. The 7 members were Sung Kyu, Dong Woo, Woo Hyun, Sung Yeol, L, Sungjong and Hoya.
The group made its official debut in June 2010. Before that, they had participated in the 2010 Winter Olympics with then-labelmate Epik High. In their nine years long career, the boys have won numerous awards and broken records. They went on numerous tours, holding concerts across the world and being widely loved by the fans.
In 2017 though, member Hoya didn’t renew their contract with Woolim, which led to him leaving the group. Hoya is currently signed with Initial Entertainment. The rest of the members continued their activities as a group. Then, in 2018, Sung Kyu joined the military, so five members promoted their music. Further, in 2019, Sungyeol enlisted for military duty, followed by Dongwoo and later Sungjong and Woohyun. Member L’s contract expired in 2019 too, and he didn’t renew it. In the period between 2020-21, all members except Woohyun left Woolim Entertainment. They all are working quite successfully in their solo careers, but the group hasn’t disbanded yet, so there are hopes of a reunion.
Woohyun And Sungjong’s Revelations About Woolim Entertainment
Recently when Sungjong invited Woohyun to his show, they caught up with each other regarding their professional life. Sungjong asked him how his life and work were at Woolim Entertainment. Woohyun didn’t have much nice things to say. In fact, he asked if he could curse.
The guys discussed all the possibilities of a reunion of INFINITE, but their response made it clear its an attempt that would end in vain. Yet, the guys are positive about how the fans keep them going. And for the fans solely, the guys want to reunite and come back as INFINITE, the ones the fans looked up to and adored.
Woohyun also gave some information as an insider of Woolim Entertainment. He revealed how because of the company’s irresponsibility, a lot of data related to INFINITE had been lost. He said that a hard drive contained all of their works, which included their dance practices, vlogs, and even unreleased works of INFINITE. Now, all that data has just been lost to oblivion. However, Woohyun said jokingly how he would sneak in and find and retrieve whatever data remains from the past and bring it with him. While Woohyun explained this irresponsibility on the company’s part, Sungjong didn’t hold back from calling Woohyun a spy whose mission is to rob and retrieve all INFINITE-related data.
Woohyun and Sungjong really didn’t hold back from revealing everything that goes down at Woolim Entertainment. It seems Woolim Entertainment has failed at keeping its integrity, and all the irresponsibility of losing an artist’s data is a huge deal. Idols work day and night creating new music, and it must suck big time to have all those hard work gone down the gutter. No wonder, Woohyun and Sungjong were so candid about their dissatisfaction with Woolim Entertainment. Especially Woohyun, since he’s still a part of Woolim. We don’t know what might be the aftermath of this issue, but the fans are really unhappy with their idols getting treated this way. They are leaving heartfelt messages for the members while calling Woolim a lazy company.
