UK’s first gay dating show kicked off last week with a kiss-off, a Gay Pride party, and one unlucky contestant, Mikey, left out without a man by his side. The show, hosted by Aussie singer Danii Minogue pairs a dozen gay men with a partner at a fancy Italian villa, tests out their relationships, gives us background on the contestants, and becomes the first show in the BBC’s history to showcase the dating thematic, adding up to the diversity and inclusion program that the British production company is now incorporating to their programming.
The show features good editing, nice scenarios, and a very gay-friendly soundtrack that, coupled with the participants, adds up to production value that will surely catch the attention of those interested in these sorts of shows.
The first two episodes dropped on the BBC simultaneously, even with a change of schedule that caught many by surprise. The show blew up on the niche’s social media and seems to be catching quite some traction because there’s a lot ahead, from dramas, love triangles, and eliminations, coupled with Danii Minogue and her Italian butler hyping up these men ahead of the emotional challenges that the reality show will throw their ways.
I Kissed A Boy Episode 2 Recap
The men wake up following a gay party, and they’re all chatting about the previous night. In the previous episode, they were paired, and they were getting to know each other. Bobski feels insecure that Josh, his partner, was too friendly with someone else. After breakfast, they go to the pool to have a stretch, then Danii Minogue pops up in a metallic rainbow flag dress to welcome the men.
Danii informs them that the next night the men will have a kiss-off, where they will decide if they’re keeping the partner they were paired with or choosing someone else and if one of those dudes doesn’t get a kiss from some other dude, they will go back home.
Danii Minogue Sends Mikey, An Italian
In the absence of a match for Mikey, Dannii Minogue dispatches Matteo, an Italian housekeeper that pops out and catches every man’s attention in that villa. Matteo delivers Mikey a task: Mikey must select two male companions for dates. However, with everyone at the Masseria on the table, unexpected sparks ignite, resulting in the Masseria’s first love triangle.
Mikey chooses Josh and Ben for a date. Josh and Mikey go out for lunch, have some drinks, and talk about their past and their relationship with their families. Meanwhile, the men banter by the pool, talking about infidelity, promiscuity, and stigma within the gay community.
After lunch comes dinner, and Mikey and Ben go for a date by the pool, sipping some sparkling wine and strawberries. The two are very flirtatious with one another. The day goes on, showing us how the rest of the men interact with one another and get to know each other. Then, after the sun sets, Dannii then gathers the boys for the Kiss-Off, where it’s time for them to lay their cards and hearts out on the table. When it’s Mikey’s turn to choose whom he wants to kiss…the show ends, leaving us with the first cliffhanger of the season.
