Eda Yuuka’s newest drama series, One Room Angel, is a BL romance inspired by a manga revolving around an angel and a human boy. With Uesugi Shuhei and Nishimura Takura playing the main roles, this intense romantic drama showed up on television networks as a mini-series.
Taking inspiration from Harada’s works of the same name, One Room Angel is an emotional rollercoaster that features the story of Kouki, a man with no job and no social life & an angel who happens to get trapped on earth after losing his memories mysteriously.
Each episode will showcase the strange yet wholesome relationship between the Angel and Kouki, becoming deeper and more honest while also revealing the real reason why Kouki came back to life despite being on the verge of death in the beginning.
Besides Uesugi and Nishimura, the cast of One Room Angel consists of Hasegawa Kyoko in the role of Arisa and Tanaka Koki in the role of A-kun.
About The Show
Tomoda Kouki is a convenience store employee without any friends or any kind of social life, spending all of his days sleeping at his messy home and working through the night at the convenience store. While we aren’t shown much of Kouki’s background information at first, it’s revealed that Kouki has raised his brother in the Yakuza.
One day at the convenience store, two rowdy men show up and start causing a scene in the store. Kouki is told to make them leave, but after the men attack him verbally, he starts punching them in the face.
Before Kouki can come back to his senses, he’s stabbed with a pocketknife by one of the rowdy men. In his dying moments, Kouki sees the convenience store manager completely disregard him by not calling the ambulance immediately.
However, right when Kouki’s eyes close, he sees a vision where an Angel descends from heaven and talks to him. The next day, Kouki wakes up as if nothing happened. The only thing different was that an Angel with pure white wings was with him in his room.
After confirming that the Angel is completely real, Kouki is in disbelief but lets the Angel stay as he doesn’t have any memory of how he ended up on Earth. The two start to live together until the Angel can gain back his memory or regain enough strength to go back to heaven.
Kouki and the Angel live together in a single room, causing many awkward but comical situations that are worth watching if you’re into light-hearted comedy.
As the story of One Room Angel further unveils, we’ll see Kouki adapting to the new life with an Angel and trying to build a new life for himself with a positive mind, as the Angel’s health could be affected if anyone around him is in distress.
