Harriet The Spy Series – Premise
The series revolves around Harriet M. Welsch, the only child of a wealthy family residing in the Upper East Side of New York City. Harriet’s mother is a socialite, and her father is an executive. Thus, the family hired a nanny to take care of Harriet and a cook.
Harriet aspires to be a writer and a spy, and she thinks there’s a thin line between the two professions. Harriet has two friends Simon, a boy who aspires to be a volleyball player but has to take care of his writing father, and Janie, who wants to be a scientist when she grows up. Janie likes to perform scientific experiments in her room which often leads to stuff blowing up. Harriet observes her neighbors and writes her observation in a notebook.
Harriet’s notebook is massive as she has been doing it for a long time and has brutally honest documentation of her views on the residents. Harriet also spies on her classmates and friends and documents them to plan vengeful revenge. Harriet has a mortal enemy in Marion Hawthorne, who is the school’s queen bee and a teacher’s pet.
Harriet is encouraged by her nanny to continue writing her observations. Harriet wrote about the Robinsons, a couple in the neighborhood who has a passion for collecting art for their home and inviting people to show their latest addition to the collection. The first episode begins with an introduction to Harriet and her family.
Harriet’s getting late for her school and discusses the topic of her research paper that she has to submit to school with Ole Golly. She has a brief altercation with her mother about her bangs; following it, she leaves for school with Ole Golly. Once at school, we meet Marion and Harriet’s friends.
While everyone is going to the library to study for their research paper, Harriet goes to spy on Agath, a woman who disappeared with her dog, only to discover Agatha has quit her job and opened a dog clothes selling store that is going to cost her a massive amount of money. Harriet further discovers that Mrs. Plumber is scared of starting her new life to the point that she stays depressed in her bed most of the time.
Harriet decides she has to get Mrs. Plumber out of bed and skips school to do so. Harriet distracts the doorman of Mrs. Plumbers’ house from entering it and continuing her journey of spying on Agatha. While spying on Agatha, Harriet is caught by her dogs and thrown out of the building. Harriet works with her best friends to help Agatha get out of bed.
The episode ended with Harriet being successful in her mission to get Agatha out of bed and start the business. The second episode followed Harriet and Marion fighting to gain the school’s vote. The rest of the season follows Harriet on several adventures and ends with her adding Garcia to her spying route list.
Harriet is determined to help Ole Gally fulfill the bucket list she wanted to complete by the time she turned 35 on her 35th birthday. The second season of the series will pick up from where the first one ended. This time Harriet will face several new challenges as she lost the notebook she wrote her observations during a school play.
Harriet is further encouraged by Golly to continue writing and work towards her dream. Harriet is determined to get her notebook back at any cost, and it will be interesting to see if she can recover it.

The series is set to have ten episodes with 24 minutes run-time that will be available for the fans to stream via AppleTV.
