Because the series has been going on for so long, it might get a tad bit difficult to get to know the right order in which to watch this anime. We are here to help you out. But first, some details about the series.
Dragon Ball was written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama, and the manga was serialized by Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. In addition to this, the chapters are collected in 42 tankobon volumes. An interesting fact about Dragon Ball is that it was inspired by a Chinese novel of the 16th century named “Journey to the West,” and the series also incorporates components from Hong Kong martial arts films. The manga has two famous anime adaptations produced by Toei Animation, namely Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.
The synopsis of Dragon Ball is as follows. The story is that of an incredibly strong boy from the Saiyan race of extraterrestrials named Son Goku. At the start of the series, he meets a girl named Bulma, and they set out to find the seven Dragon balls. When the Dragon Balls are gathered, they summon the wish-granting dragon named Shenlong. Later in the series, Goku receives training in martial arts from Kame Sen’nin, and he participates in the martial arts tournament named “Strongest Under The Heavens” and has fighting matches with some of the strongest combatants.
Further into the story, the demon king Piccolo tries to take over the Earth, and Goku saves the Earth by receiving training from the gods of Earth. Goku then offers up his own life to save the planet from his evil brother and is later brought back to life after undergoing training in the afterlife to fight and defeat the incoming extraterrestrials. Goku becomes super powerful as all the characters he fights are stronger than the one before.
