Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently running at 30 frames per second on consoles, according to information shared by Flow Games after its team visited Rockstar North ahead of the game’s extended gameplay presentation.

Davy Jones of Flw Games oreportedly spoke with Rockstar North head of development and co-studio head Rob Nelson, who confirmed that the game is currently running at 30 FPS on console hardware. The reported information includes the PS5 and PS5 Pro, although Rockstar has not yet announced the final technical specifications for every version of the game.

The major unanswered question is whether GTA 6 will eventually receive a 60 FPS performance mode. According to the report, Nelson could not confirm whether Rockstar will offer such an option at launch or later, as the studio still needs to consult its technical team. This means a higher frame-rate mode has not been ruled out, but players should not expect it to be guaranteed.

The recent extended look demonstrated the game’s massive open world, detailed environments, and technical ambitions, which may explain why Rockstar is targeting 30 FPS during development. However, until Rockstar officially reveals its final graphics and performance options, the possibility of a 60 FPS or alternative mode remains uncertain.
