Plot
The film starts with Dexter Reed, the school’s slacker, on the first day of summer, taking his mother’s car for a joyride while his mother is away for work on a business trip, but things turn comical when he indirectly gets involved in a car crash with Mr. Wheat, his school teacher.
Due to Dexter not possessing a license or having car insurance to pay back for the damages he caused to Mr. Wheat’s car, Dexter was in danger of getting imprisoned, but his teacher, understanding his dilemma, agreed to let him pay back the estimated $1900 instead of calling the police on him.
Well, Dexter has no other choice than to take up a summer job in hopes of paying back the debt, and that is exactly what he does. He initially takes up a job at Mondo Burger but later has to take up a job at Good Burger after he is fired from Mondo Burger for clashing with the manager.
Once he starts to work at Good Burger, Dexter meets and befriends the dim-witted and shy Ed, who also works at Good Burger in the role of a cashier with a secret unknown to Dexter being that Ed was responsible for the accident between his car and Mr Wheat’s car as on the day of the accident Ed was rollerblading in front of Dexter for a delivery causing Dexter to swerve and crash.
Well, soon Dexter realizes that Ed was the reason behind the crash but eventually forgives him as the two had developed a bond of friendship while working together but things take a turn again when Mondo Burger opens and starts to gain immense customers with their oversized burgers.
This starts to hurt Good Burger’s business, but Dexter saves the business and has the customers return after he starts to add a secret sauce made by Ed to the burgers while doing, so he decides to extort Ed’s gullibility to pay off his debt sooner and to do so he creates a contract that states that Dexter would get 80% of the bonus that Ed receives for his sauce.
Meanwhile, Mondo tries to bribe Ed into giving the recipe to him but fails and decides to hire Roxanne, a beautiful maiden, to seduce Ed into giving out the recipe, but his plan fails again after Roxanne quits following a double date where Ed continuously hurts her.
The following day, Monique scolds Dexter after discovering the contract, thus leading him to feel remorseful for his actions. Therefore, he decides to apologize to Ed for his actions, but another twist occurs when he witnesses a stray rejecting a Mondo Burger in favor of Good Burger.
This leads the dynamic duo to infiltrate Mondo Burger to discover the reason behind the stray’s choice, and as it turns out, Mondo Burger used Triampathol, an illegal food chemical, to enhance the taste of their burgers artificially.
Kurt sends the duo to Semented Hills Assylum to prevent them from sharing their findings with the world while sending his henchmen to Good Burger to destroy Ed’s sauce, but Otis, an elderly employee at Good Burger, tries to stop them only for Mondo to get him sent to the Assylum too.
Well, Ed and Dexter escape and return to Mondo Burger to expose their wrongdoings, but Kurt corners Dexter while he is creating a distraction for Ed to be able to mix Triampathol in the meat grinder. The film ends with the two successfully exposing Kurt and getting him imprisoned while the duo is hailed heroes by their fellow employees before Dexter tears the contract and apologizes to his best buddy for his deception.
