Season 3 of Emily in Paris starts with Emily Cooper torn between staying with Madeline (Kate Walsh) at Savoir or joining Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) at the new indie agency, Agence Grateau.
Emily struggles with this choice, jumping between the two options until a disaster with McDonald’s—where Madeline’s water breaks—leads Sylvie to cut Emily from the team.
When Madeline decides to return to America, Sylvie sabotages Savoir’s office to take control, prompting Emily to follow her heart back to Paris. Unable to handle unemployment, Emily briefly works as a waitress at Gabriel’s (Lucas Bravo) Chez Lavaux. After a mishap leads to her being fired, she returns to marketing and works to prove herself to Sylvie again.
Emily gets back in Sylvie’s good graces by using her connection with Janine Dubois (Kate Colebrook), a columnist at Le Monde who writes “La Liste.” Although Emily accidentally tops the list instead of Sylvie, and Gabriel is also on it, Sylvie grudgingly lets Emily back on the team.
Luc (Bruno Gouery) and Julien (Samuel Arnold) are happy to have Emily return, but she sometimes gets too involved in their work. After a campaign for Julien’s client, Ami Paris goes wrong, Emily steps in to fix things.
Her enthusiasm leads her to overlap Julien’s ideas, causing Sylvie to warn her to hold back. Julien becomes frustrated and starts emailing a mysterious employer, hinting he might leave Agence Grateau.
The Emily-Alfie-Gabriel-Camille Love Square Comes To a Head in Season 3
Emily’s love life in Season 3 is as dramatic as her work life. She is in a gentle romance with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), who is emotionally guarded after a past breakup.
Good news comes when Alfie becomes Antoine’s (William Abadie) CFO and doesn’t need to move to London. Alfie proves to be an asset, and together with Antoine, they help Gabriel keep his restaurant.
Gabriel is now more committed to Camille (Camille Razat) and his restaurant, which he has renamed L’Esprit de Gigi after his grandmother. Gabriel aims for a Michelin star. Emily warns Gabriel about a Michelin food critic visiting his restaurant, though Luc is supposed to keep his girlfriend’s identity a secret.
When Gabriel learns he might get a Michelin star, he excitedly kisses Emily’s hand, which Camille sees. Camille, now Gabriel’s fiancé, decides to call off the wedding when she reveals she was pregnant. Camille admits that she and Emily had promised not to date Gabriel, a promise Camille broke.
She also says that Gabriel and Emily are perfect for each other, leading Camille to leave Gabriel at the altar. This causes a rift with Alfie, who is heartbroken.
Camille also had her own affair during the season. She meets Greek artist Sofia (Melia Kreiling) at a gallery and starts a romance. Emily catches them together but Camille blackmails her into silence by using Emily’s past affair with Gabriel. Camille questions if she should love just one person, hinting at a possible polyamorous storyline.
Sylvie Is Hiding a Secret Past in ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 3
Sylvie’s storyline in Season 3 includes finding clients for her new agency without breaking her non-compete agreement and having a secret affair with her husband Laurent (Arnaud Binard). Agence Grateau gains traction even after losing their initial client, Pierre Cadault (Jean-Christophe Bouvet), who sold his brand to JVMA.
Pierre seeks advice from his old friends when JVMA’s new store threatens his reputation. Emily and Sylvie come up with a plan to announce Pierre’s death, only for him to appear at the JVMA announcement and reclaim his brand, securing Agence Grateau’s original client.
Sylvie’s personal life is just as complicated. Her boyfriend Erik (Søren Bregendal) questions why she is still married. She secretly recruits Laurent to help with her new agency’s paperwork, leading to rekindling their relationship.
Sylvie also has a complicated past with Louis de Leon (Pierre Deny), head of JVMA, who is one of Laurent’s investors. This adds another layer of intrigue to the story.
