Elden Ring Tarnished Edition Adds Two New NPCs, and a Dataminer Reveals Their Hidden Faces

Elden Ring’s latest Tarnished Pack update has added more than new gear and classes. Two new NPC invaders, Knight Leontiel and Noble Broken Mask, have also entered the game, and longtime dataminer Zullie the Witch has now examined what the characters look like beneath their masks.

The findings come shortly after the Tarnished Pack launched on August 27, adding new starting classes, weapons, armor, Torrent customization and NPC invasion encounters to Elden Ring. The content is included with Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 and is available separately on other platforms.

Knight Leontiel Has a Familiar Dark Souls Connection

Zullie the Witch’s latest video focuses on the hidden details of both characters, with Knight Leontiel immediately standing out because of her resemblance to Lucatiel of Mirrah from Dark Souls 2. Her outfit, broad hat, mask and greatsword closely echo Lucatiel’s recognizable design, while her face appears to carry an additional visual reference.

Leontiel also uses a matador-inspired combat style, with her greatsword and cape contributing to the distinctive presentation. The character’s equipment can be obtained by defeating her during her Caelid invasion, making the new NPC more than simply a cosmetic addition.

Noble Broken Mask offers a different kind of discovery. The character is connected to Goldmask, one of Elden Ring’s most mysterious figures, and the newly revealed face provides another possible look into how FromSoftware designed its masked characters.

Zullie’s examination also highlights how much detail exists beneath Elden Ring’s masks and helmets. The dataminer has previously used the game’s character creation data to reveal hidden NPC appearances, showing how many FromSoftware characters are built from systems similar to those available to players.

The two characters arrived alongside the Tarnished Pack, which officially added NPC invasions in Caelid and Leyndell as part of the new content. With the update now available, players are continuing to uncover the references and hidden details that make these seemingly minor additions especially interesting for FromSoftware fans.
