A prequel manga and a sequel manga began back in September 2020 and October 2020, respectively. In 2020, the manga was once again adapted into anime. Dai is told a story by his adopted grandfather Brass, who is a monster magician. Brass tells him how demons and monsters came to the island where they live. A hero known by the name of Avan defeated the Demon King Hadlar. After the defeat of Hadlar, all the demons and monsters were released. Some of these very demons and monsters came to the island of Dermline to live peacefully. Dai is the only human on that island. Dai, the protagonist of the story, dreams of becoming a hero. One day the hero named Avan comes to the island where Dai lives. Dai knowing of the greatness of Avan, asks him to be his teacher, and Avan agrees. Before Dai could complete his training, Demon King Hadlar was revived by the Great Demon King Vearn. To protect Dai, Avan sacrifices himself.
To fulfill Avan’s last wish, Dai, along with Popp and Gome, leave the island to defeat Hadlar and Vearn. Dai and his friends are joined by Maam, Hyunckel, and Leona on their journey. In their adventures, they face several powerful enemies. The beast king Crocodine (commander of Hadlar’s army), mystic commander Zaboara and his so Zamza, a magical being made of both fire and ice known as Flazzard, Myst-Vearn (servant of Vearn), Kill-Vearn (personal assassin of Vearn), and Baran (a legendary warrior and Dai’s real father).

The episode starts with Zaboara falling to the ground after his defeat. Crocodine comes near Zaboara and talks to him. Zaboara, in the last attempt, tries to fool Crocodine and take over his body by poisoning him. Just when Zaboara is about to hit Crocodine, Crocodine drops his ax on Zaboara. Having seen through the deception of Zaboara, Crocodine finishes him off, thus killing him. On the other side, Hyunckel is still fighting the monsters. After defeating almost all of them, he is standing when he is shocked to see Hym. Hym, who fused with Hadlar’s soul, arrives and challenges Hyunckel to a rematch.
Hyunckel realizes that Hadlar is truly dead, but Hym has taken his place. When a few monsters insult Hadlar, Hym develops silver hair just like Hadalr and starts beating the monsters. Hym then charges on Hyunckel, who is still thinking about how immensely powerful Hym has become. Hym delivers a powerful blow to Hyunckel, causing him to pass out. At the end of the episode, Hyunckel remembers Avan in his mind. He stands up, preparing to fight Hym once again, while Hym passes a smile towards him.
