Disney shared exciting news about ‘Andor’ Season 2 at D23, bringing joy to fans of the Star Wars series. The event gave us a sneak peek of the new season, showing two familiar characters from Rogue One. Ben Mendelsohn will return as Krennic, a role he hinted at earlier in an interview with Collider’s Maggie Lovitt.
Alan Tudyk will also come back as K2SO, the witty droid he played in the film. Show creator Tony Gilroy had mentioned that including K2SO was one of the key tasks for the second season.
Season 2 will continue to follow Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, as he transforms from a skeptic to a key figure in the Rebel Alliance. The first season impressed with its realistic portrayal of the Star Wars universe, focusing on the challenges faced by the growing rebellion against the Galactic Empire.
The new season will likely deepen these themes and bring Cassian closer to the story of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Who’s Is Making ‘Andor’?
As a prequel to Rogue One, Season 2 is expected to set up important plot points, such as Cassian’s stronger role in the Rebel Alliance and his involvement in finding the Death Star plans. The season finale might introduce important characters from Rogue One or hint at the mission leading to the film.
Tony Gilroy, who created the series, will write the first three episodes. Known for his work on the Bourne series and Rogue One, Gilroy has been key in shaping the show’s intense, character-focused story. Beau Willimon, famous for creating House of Cards, will write the next three episodes, bringing his expertise in political dramas to the series.
The third part of the season will be written by Dan Gilroy, Tony’s brother and the writer behind Nightcrawler. The final three episodes will be written by Tom Bissell, a skilled writer and video game story designer known for Gears of War 4 and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
