On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Harajuku-core pioneers HANABIE. released their latest hit, “Metamorphose!” along with the official music video. This track, their heaviest and catchiest yet, draws inspiration from superheroes and the battle against dark forces.
Vocalist Yukina shared her thoughts on the new release, saying, “This time, it’s a HANABIE.-style hero song! It reminds me of the heroes, girl warriors, and magic tales we loved as kids. It’s a powerful, dark, and chaotic song! We hope to be your hero! Enjoy every intricate sound in this song.”
Guitarist and vocalist Matsuri added, “The theme this time is… What if HANABIE. created the theme song for an afternoon hero anime? That’s the concept behind this song! Bassist Hettsu described the track as “a HANABIE.-style hero song! It’s a girl version of a superhero (sentai) song! The track features catchy phrases, but outside the chorus, the band’s sound is hardcore and heavy, capturing the battle between villain and hero. We hope you can feel that energy! Let’s listen to this song and transform into our strong-mode selves!”
Drummer Chika also commented, “With the theme of heroes, we played the song to be both strong and charming! We wrote it while imagining each of you becoming a hero and having fun with all your might when we perform, so please listen to it a lot and come out to have fun! Before this release, the trailblazing quartet shared “OTAKU Lovely Densetsu” and “GIRL’S TALK,” which together have amassed an impressive 2.4 million views on YouTube and 2.1 million streams on Spotify.
Following their highly anticipated debut at Lollapalooza 2024 last weekend, HANABIE. is set to bring their high-energy live show to the United States in September, touring with Jinjer and Born Of Osiris. During their North American tour, they will also perform at the inaugural Metal Injection Festival and Mayhem Festival 2024.
Additionally, the band has announced their first headlining tour in Australia, where they will perform in four cities.
