Bungou Stray Dogs is one of the most beloved anime of all time. If you are into action thriller stories with a bunch of people with supernatural powers, then this is the anime for you. Created by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, the series has gained huge popularity among its fans due to its thrilling plotline and creative storytelling. The popularity of the anime can be known by the number of reels, posts, and cosplay activities being done around the show.
Bungou stray dogs tell the story of an orphaned teenager named Atsushi Nakajima, who was abruptly kicked out of the orphanage one day and left homeless and penniless on the streets. We later found out that this was because of a strange superpower that Atsushi possessed. One fine day, as Atsushi was roaming around, he rescued a man whom he thought was committing suicide.
This man was detective Osamu Dazai, and after talking to him, he found out that he had a superpower that turned him into a berserker white tiger in the moonlight. The man prompted Atsushi to join a group of elite detectives, all of whom had superpowers and solved cases that were too tough and complex for the normal police to solve.
Atsushi joined the group and started solving strange cases while coming to terms with his supernatural powers. Later, as the show progressed, the storyline became more complicated, and we came across different characters who wanted to destroy these people with supernatural abilities or destroy the city. Our heroes continued to fight them, and the story followed.
In one of the arcs, we were also introduced to characters named Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, and more. It is no coincidence that these characters are named after famous authors and poets. The writer wanted to create characters that book lovers could relate to, so he named these people accordingly. Not only that, but the characters also possess some powers and traits of their writers and poets. In my opinion, that alone is a good reason to watch the show.
The first episode of Bungou Stray Dogs aired on April 7th, 2016, while the last (3rd season) of the show ended on June 28th, 2019. On November 7th, 2021, it was announced that the 4th season of the show would air soon, and the fans have been waiting eagerly since then.
It’s been almost two years since the announcement, and we know you’re curious about when the first episode of the next season will air. So, here we are to take you down memory lane, do a quick recap, and tell you everything you need to know about the 4th season of Bungou Stray Dogs.

Bungou Stray Dogs season 3 Recap
The first three episodes of the season are kind of a flashback, where we are shown how Osamu Dazai met Chuya Nakahara while they were working for the port mafia. The rest of the show focuses on the mental war between two factions. We see how the Detective Agency and the Port Mafia were manipulated by the group that goes by the name Rats in the House of the Dead.
In the third season, we see that the person responsible for bugging Moby Dick’s remote control is a mysterious man named Fyodor Dostoevsky. Fyodor is the leader of a group named “the rats of the house of the dead.” Fyodor was recruited into the group by a man called Ace, and we later found out that Fyodor had the ability to control consciousness and space.
That allowed him to win by a large margin in a game against Ace. On being confronted by Ace, Fyodor loses his cool, and we later see Ace hanging from the ceiling. We find that it was Fyodor who caused Ace’s death (just like the character in Crime and Punishment) and stole the book of Port Mafia members.
In the season, we also see a lot of character development for our main protagonist, Atsushi, as he is assigned to a case involving the death of his headmaster in the orphanage. On the other hand, Dostoevsky was causing havoc, controlling people to do his bidding so he could obtain a book that would help him rewrite the course of humanity according to his will.
While Dostoevsky was out there perfecting his plan, a series of unfortunate events forced the agency and port mafia to fight. In the end, the team finally managed to arrest Dostoevsky somehow, but that was part of his elaborate scheme. The season ended with Atsushi and Akutagawa agreeing to a fight within the next six months when they both honed their skills.
