A new Twitter account was created for the game and it was what led to the announcement of a new game. With the name “Gakuen Bungo Stray Dogs”(Bungo Stray Dogs School), the game is going to be meant for smartphones. It is going to be a project for NextNinja to develop. The announcement makes things more exciting in 2023. As this comes right after the fourth season of the anime this year that aired from January to March, it clearly shows how seriously the show and its extensions are being taken. With multiple avenues to tap for further rise, it seems like no stone will be left unturned to ensure that Bungo Stray Dogs reaches the pinnacle of popularity.
The very first smartphone game of Bungo Stray Dogs was released in 2017. Titled as ‘Bungo Stray Dogs: Tales of the Lost’, the smartphone game succeeded in creating enough excitement for the series. As it featured unseen stories of the show’s characters who are already gaining fame for their interesting personalities and backstories, it raised the level of curiosity in those who were already viewing the show and even attracted new audiences. Developed by Ambition, the first game was released in English just a year after the development and release in 2017. Based on how successful the game is, it will not be a wrong thing to state that it gave Bungo Stray Dogs the footing it required in gaming sector.

Started in 2012 as a manga in the Young Ace Magazine of Kadokawa Shoten, Bungo Stray Dogs was initially born as the brainchild of Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa. Based on the adventures of Atsushi Nakajima and his allies at the Armed Detectives Agency to free Yokohama from the Mafia’s influence, the series brings together a lot of legendary writers like Osamu Dazai, Ryunosuke Akutagawa, Doppo Kunikida, Ranpo Edogawa. It even incorporated great non-Japanese authors like Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol, Mark Twain and Joseph Steinbeck! With such a unique idea of its, everything was set for a great hit. When the serialised version of it in the Young Ace Magazine was shaped into manga volumes by Kadokawa Shoten, it hit new levels of fame. In English, Yen Press has the authority to publish Bungo Stray Dogs.
Starting off with its anime in 2016, Bungo Stray Dogs expanded really quickly in terms of popularity. With 24 episodes in all, it initially launched with 2 parts of its first season. Each part had 12 episodes each. The anime took off due to the really unique storyline and how interesting the characters are. With 4 seasons having worked really well and with its own movies(Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple and Bungo Stray Dogs The Movie: Beast), the show has reached a level where it can still have more and more ways to grow.
The new smartphone game’s Twitter account posted the phrase- “Another ‘school’ begins at dusk.” With one smartphone game out already, the second game’s teaser has already started creating waves. As the Bungo Stray Dogs Exhibit 2nd Act opened up at the EJ Anime Museum located in Saitama recently, it is also going to feature a poster of the new game that is in pipeline. As the announcement has come along with the one made on March 29 regarding a fifth season, the excitement can surely be felt. Even though the fifth season is scheduled to premiere in July this year, there is no confirmation about the time for the game’s launch.
