BTS member Jin has been selected as the first torchbearer for the Louvre section of the Paris 2024 Olympics torch relay, scheduled for Sunday, July 14.
Olympics.com reported,
“Jin is expected to carry the torch starting at around 8:30 PM from the Pyramid of the Louvre Museum.”
Earlier this month, BTS member Jin was announced as a torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the specific location and date now confirmed for July 14. This date coincides with Bastille Day, the French National Day.
The Paris Olympic torch, lit on April 16 at the Temple of Hera in Olympia, Greece, arrived in Marseille on May 8 and will traverse approximately 60 locations before reaching the opening ceremony.
The 2024 Paris Olympics torch relay will involve about 10,000 participants, including notable figures such as soccer legend Didier Drogba, members of the French Resistance, and survivors of the 2016 Nice truck attack.
BTS member Jin, known for promoting messages of self-love, love, and peace through his music, was likely chosen as a torchbearer due to his global influence and advocacy for positive themes.
Jin became the first BTS member to complete his military service, being discharged on the 12th of last month.
He resumed activities promptly, kicking off with a fan meeting on June 13, coinciding with BTS’s 11th debut anniversary.
Jin is also preparing to appear on variety shows and is gearing up to release new music as a singer.
