Currently, the boy band consists of Nine members: Xiumin, Lay, Suho, Chen, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Sehun, Kai, and D.O. Their music incorporates pop, hip-hop, and RandB, with electronic dance music genres such as house and trap.  During their news of upcoming debut news, EXO was garnered a lot of attention within South Korea and internationally. Many compared them to their fellow  SM boy band TVXQ.

Exo was initially separated into two sub-groups: Exo-K (consisting of Suho, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Kai, D.O., and Sehun) and Exo-M (consisting of Lay, Chen, Xiumin, and former members Kris, Luhan, and Tao).  Exo-K and Exo-M performed music in Korean and Mandarin, respectively, until they released their third EP (Extended Play) Overdose in 2014. As of 2015, Exo has started to perform as one group while releasing and performing music in multiple languages. The group members have also debuted as Sub-Unit Exo-CBX with Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin in 2016 and sub-unit Exo-SC with members Sehun and Chanyeol in 2019. Each of the EXO members also maintains solo careers in music, television, and film.

Similarly, earlier this month, EXO was in trend on social media worldwide, as there was a rumor circulating of them leaving their management company, SM Entertainment. The group’s fandom and fans, EXO-L, could not keep the sentiments to themselves and took various social media platforms to share their thoughts and views.
