Watching a football match is a thrilling experience where tensions run high and celebrations are at their peak. So, just imagine a manga or anime adaptation of the beautiful game. It will have all the perks of watching a game with the added delight of some drama and friendship in the lives of our favorite players. Blue Lock is no ordinary sports manga. It has a unique storyline and a darker disposition than the usual set when it comes to the sports genre.
This manga series is written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro, and the illustrations are done by Yusuke Nomura. The serialization has been Weekly Shonen Magazine, and there are 22 tankobon volumes of its chapters. This manga also has an anime adaptation which is produced by Eight Bit. The premiere of the anime was in October 2022.
This is how the synopsis of Blue Lock goes. Isagi Yoichi is a high schooler and a forward on his school team. He is invited to join a Japanese football training program after his team loses a game because he passed on the ball to an inadequately skilled teammate instead of making the winning goal himself.
Interestingly enough, this program was started by the Japanese Football Union after Japan lost the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This program takes in high schoolers and gives them rigorous training all to prepare for the 2022 World Cup. The training program isolates the selected high school footballers in an institution that resembles a prison, the name of which is Blue Lock.
The players will be trained by coach Ego Jinpachi who is all set to create the world’s greatest striker. And only one of them will get that title, and those who fail will get a lifetime ban from ever representing the Japanese team. Who’s it going to be?
Blue Lock chapter 202 recap
The chapter starts with Nagi scoring a goal, and Tsurugi also scores while Team Z is occupied with Nagi. The score is now 3-0, with Team V scoring three goals. Seeing this, Bechara taps into his monster form to encourage the other players of his team to become extra special and bring out their hidden talents and abilities. Bachira goes past Mikage and tricks Tsurugi to score a goal over the goalie.
This goal causes Team Z to realize their full potential and play to their fullest. When Kunigami scores an excellent goal, half-time is reached, and the score stands at 3-2. After half-time, once the second half starts, Gagamaru has an opening shot which Tsurugi deflects and is taken by Isagi. But because Isagi hesitated, the ball was grabbed by Nagi.
Mikage receives a yellow card because of a foul against Raichi, but later on, with only 30 minutes left, Chigiri scores through a free kick, and the score is now a tie at 3-3 as he passed the ball to an area where only he could reach it.
