Love is not just a beautiful feeling. It is an emotion with immense power. It changes us in ways we never knew possible and makes us do crazy things. This feeling has the potential to make a person move mountains and cross oceans for the one that has captured their heart.
Written and illustrated by Koji Miura, Blue Box is a manga that focuses on sports and romance with a side serving of comedy. The serialization of this manga has been done in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and has been collected in nine tankobon volumes.
Here’s a short synopsis of the story. This tale revolves around Taiki Inomata and Chinatsu Kano who are both high school students at Eimei Academy which is known for its extensive sports program. Taiki is a part of the school’s badminton team and he always arrives early to practice.
He is good at badminton but he doesn’t hold a prayer to Chinatsu who is the school’s basketball star and the person on who Taiki has a crush on. And because of this gap in skills they have between them, Taiki feels that his feelings will always remain unrequited.
But fate had a completely different plan in store for him as one day, Chinatsu comes and lives with Taiki because her family moves abroad to work. Taiki couldn’t believe his luck and strived to forge a relationship with his crush, Chinatsu.
Chinatsu has a dream of playing in the Nationals and Taiki decided to work harder and partake in the Nationals himself so that he could be on equal footing with his Chinatsu and that she will finally return his feelings.

Blue Box Chapter 89 Recap
It’s 5:30 in the morning and Chinatsu wakes up and meets Taiki and his mom for breakfast. She asks Taiki whether he has ever felt like skipping practice. He replies that he has felt like staying in bed but when that happens he envisions his future self and he knows that he will regret skipping practice if he falls back asleep.
He thinks that he will hate himself a little if he feels lazy and skip. Taiki feels that since Chinatsu brought up the topic, she might have felt like skipping that day. He wasn’t surprised because Chinatsu started down this path because of Yumeka.
He also wishes that Yumeka had stayed close to Chinatsu. Back in school, the girl’s basketball coach asks if anyone wanted a ticket to the first match of the Girls’ Winter Cup. Taiki jumps at the opportunity but tells that it was for a friend. Just then, Matsu comes over and grabs the ticket from Taiki saying those who watch should get the ticket.
Taiki however did not want Matsu anywhere near Chinatsu so they decided to hold a competition and whoever wins gets the ticket. The competition was whoever can do shuttle runs the longest. Meanwhile, the girls are on their way to practice when Chinatsu says to her friends that she is going to drop by her house for a change of clothes.
She stops by the dental clinic Taiki always goes to and suddenly, Yumeka comes out the door. Back in school, the boys are getting ready for the competition.
