Bloodlands: The plot of The show
When the first season was first aired, everyone was rooting for the main protagonist to find out who the assassin behind the murders was. What they didn’t expect was that Tom Brannick himself would be the infamous Goliath. As shocking as it was, we’re revealed through season two that Goliath has done much more than just simple assassinations.
The Season starts with the police finding out about a murder of an accountant named Colin Foyle, but there is no evidence as to who he was murdered by. Our DCP Tom Brannick and His DS Niamh McGovern are called to the scene to start the investigation. As the investigation proceeds, Tom realizes that the victim is not a normal accountant. He had a much deeper mystery surrounding him.
What’s more mysterious is his wife, Olivia Foyle. Although she says she’s innocent, her actions tell another story.
As the story has been going on so far, It looks like Tom Brannick had once stolen a huge amount of gold and had hidden it away. That same gold is the reason behind the murder of Colin Foyle.
Bloodlands Season 2 Episode 3: Recap
The 3rd episode aired on October 2nd, 2022. The episode starts with the interrogation of Olivia Foyle, who by now knows that Tom is involved in the gold case as well. Tom’s DC, Birdy asks Olivia a wide range of questions to determine her true connection with Robert Dardis.
During Colin’s funeral, Tom meets his kids, who seem to hate his new wife Olivia. They talk about her marrying their dad just for money and that she has had a criminal past which they didn’t know much of. The daughter and son of Colin reveal that they knew their father was doing dirty work, but he never talked about it.
While Niamh takes a picture of the funeral, she notices Tom and Olivia having a chat in private. Birdy gets closer to Tom’s daughter, Izzy Brannick.
Tom and Niamh try to search for locations Colin had been to and stumble upon a Jeweler’s shop. The owner of the place informs that she was just one of Colin’s clients and had nothing to do with his murder. Brannick notices a cloth on the shelf, which is similar to the cloth the Murder weapon, M24 was wrapped in. They arrest her and later find a gold bar in her safe.
Izzy takes up therapy, as being near police and crime scenes has affected her mental health.
The gold’s origin is traced back to the US intelligence agency, where an officer informs that the gold was stolen from the IRA in the year 1998. Back at the office, upon interrogation, the jeweler reveals that Colin had given the gold bar to her, But now that he was dead, she thought she would keep it. She also reveals that it was given to Colin by an assassin who goes by the name Goliath. Shocked, Niamh now doubts the belief that Goliath had died.
