If you’re in need of some good laughter, Tune in this week to The Ranganation’s all-new 2nd episode of the 5th Season. With hilarious topics and instances from daily life, this series is a pure stand-up comedy hosted by Romesh Ranganathan. Not to mention the 20-25 member public seated on the stage with the funniest name tags.
The show was first aired on May 19th, 2019. It is directed by Barbara Wiltshire, who’s known for her other programs like Would I lie To You? and Inside No.9. Since it first aired, its popularity led to another 4 seasons over the years, with each Season having 5 episodes and a special episode.
The 5th Season premiered earlier this month on October 2nd, 2022. With so much happening around the world, Romesh has no shortage of topical comedy. For the first episode, the guests were Alex Brooker, a well-known journalist and comedian, along with Anna Maxwell Martin, a talented actress.
The Ranganation: Romesh Ranganathan’s Journey
Jonathan Romesh Ranganathan is an award-winning comedian and actor born and raised in West Sussex, England. He is a University of London Alumni and graduated with a degree in Mathematics. Romesh later became a teacher at a local school. He first met his wife, Leesa, at the school and ended up marrying her. He now has three children with her.
Romesh has appeared in movies as well other series. He was a part of season 1 of Taskmaster and also played a role in the movie Cinderella(2021). His great comedy skills made it possible for him to launch his shows Judge Romesh and The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan.
Ranganathan has also written an autobiographic book that goes by the name Straight Outta Crawley. His show “The Ranganation” has received two awards for its entertaining comedy.
The Ranganation is a stand-up comedy show that talks about any topic that’s been in the news. Two new guest stars are invited to be a part of each episode. Around 25 people who represent Britain are seated on the stage and answer in diverse ways. The Public chosen is very inclusive.
The Ranganation Season 5 Episode 1: Recap
The fifth season premiered with episode 1 on October 2nd, 2022. The episode revolved around the current news and the variety of things that the audience feels repulsed by. With guests such as Alex Brooker and Anna Maxwell Martin, it was a show filled with humorous jokes and a wide range of opinions. The Ranganation (25 members) is shown on a large digital screen instead of an actual stage.
The show began with Romesh discussing the latest news regarding the United Kingdom’s economy, The new Prince and Princess of England, and Romesh’s weight. Then the Ranganation talks about the highlight of their weeks, To which Pride of wales replies with a picture of his scabby feet, yikes!
The guest stars then talk about the “Icks” they might’ve experienced on a date. Romesh then asks about the meme “He’s a 10 but…” which usually mentions an ick people have faced that instantly turned them off. From walking up the stairs on all fours to eating too many fruit pies, the things people feel revolted by are pretty diverse.
The episode ended with a Trouser or No trouser challenge in which the guests’ Anna and Alex, had to guess which member of the Ranganation wasn’t wearing pants as they were on a zoom call sort of display.

The next episode will air on October 9th, 2022. New episodes of The Ranganation come out every Sunday, each lasting a total of 45 minutes.

For the next episode, the guest stars that will be featured are James Acaster and Lady Leshurr. James William Acaster is an award-winning comedian and host. He has been a part of various shows like Hypothetical, Taskmaster, and Would I Lie To You?
Lady Leshurr, whose real name is Melisha Katrina O’Garro, is a rapper and singer. She has appeared on shows like Dancing on Ice and Celebrity Circle.
