Marvel Studios dropped the Thor: Love and Thunder new trailer ahead of its theatrical release, and it’s full of things we need to unpack. Firstly, Jane Foster is back as a romantic interest. Secondly, we see the new antagonist for the movie, and it’s Christian Bale, which adds —yet another— Academy Award-winner to the roster of Thor antagonists.
In this upcoming movie, we will see Thor going through a hilarious mid-life crisis after the events of Avengers: Endgame. But it turns out that a series of events force Thor to go back into action, and he must team up with a series of other superheroes to defeat Gorr, the God butcher, from killing all the deities. Now, without further ado, let’s take a look at what Marvel Studios has in store for us.
Who Will Be In Thor: Love and Thunder?
Firstly, Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor, former King of Asgard. But in this installment, he’s going through a hilarious mid-life crisis. Jaimie Alexander will reprise her role as Sif. Also, Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe plays Zeus, god of the Olympus.
Also, the entire Guardians of the Galaxy will appear in the film, with Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillian, and Vin Diesel. Moreover, Academy Award-winner Matt Damon, Sam Neill, and Melissa McCarthy will also appear making on the film; as for the villain, we’ll expand on who’s playing Gorr, the God Butcher, in the next section!
Who Is The Villain in Thor: Love and Thunder?

Who Is Gorr The God Butcher?
Gorr, the God Butcher, is a rather new incorporation to the Thor Comics. But he’s made quite an impression. If you saw the trailer above, you’ll notice a grey-ashy paled-skin Christian Bale giving life to a menacingly looking-eerie fellow. Well, that’s Gorr the God Butcher. Just imagine his power if he can cut deities on his chopping block. Now, of course, this is a figurative way of putting it. So let’s unpack a little bit who’s this fella!
Gorr, the God Butcher, comes from a planet where everybody is starving, there are a lot of earthquakes, and the whole place is virtually a wasteland. Consequently, he is not the most jovial kind of guy. Moreover, he saw his wife and kids go through much pain and suffering. Only one of his kids survived that, and he holds a grudge. A big one, mind you.
On Thor’s Trajectory As A Character
In the early 1960s, Stan Lee was looking for a way to revive Marvel Comics. At the time, comic book sales declined, and many people believed that comics were a dying medium. Lee decided to try something new: he would create a superhero who was based on Norse mythology. The result was Thor, one of Marvel’s most popular characters. Thor quickly became a hit with readers, and his popularity has only grown in the decades since. He is now one of the most recognizable superheroes globally, and his adventures have been adapted into several films, television shows, and video games.
Despite his success, Thor remains a controversial character. Some people see him as a sexist and outdated figure, while others appreciate his traditional values and heroic nature. Whatever your opinion of Thor, there’s no denying that he is one of the most fascinating and complex superheroes in the Marvel Universe.
