Riverdale Season 6 Episode 12 takes a break from the ongoing battle between Riverdale’s heroes and Percival Pickens. For the past few episodes, Pickens has been playing his moves quite right as he has managed to pick up wins over them most of the time. Except for Tabitha who managed to defeat him in one battle and received her new time travel powers.
Riverdale Season 6 Episode 12 saw the team opting for a new plan to deal with this Pickens situation. But they are still not aware that someone is always there listening to them. Thus leaving Pickens to always have a backup plan against theirs. Taking a look at the same, let’s break down what the twelfth episode of Riverdale’s sixth season was all about.
Riverdale Season 6 Episode 12 Recap
Riverdale Season 6 Episode 12 saw Jughead, Tabitha, Betty, and Archie planning to overthrow the council. Alice Cooper overheard their discussion and soon told Percival Pickens about it. Alice suggested using the coming fog in the town as an excuse to cancel the council meeting. This way Pickens can have time to pick his next move.
The coming fog saw Riverdale’s community locking themselves inside their houses for the rest of the night. Tabitha and Jughead stayed at the Pop’s. They talked about Tabitha’s new powers. Jughead asked Tabitha to go back in time and prevent the bomb blast at Archie’s from ever happening. But Tabitha came to explain that this situation is one of those that can’t be changed.

Coming to Archie and Betty, they spent the night together. They had a heart-to-heart about how Betty escaped from TBK. Apart from that, Betty questioned if they are dating. She is late on periods and is off birth control. Archie comforts Betty and lets her know that whatever the result comes out of the pregnancy test, he is all in with her.
Coming to Reggie and Veronica, they spent the night playing strip poker and were almost close to fixing their relationship. Until Reggie asked her to take down her father’s portrait. When Veronica tried to deny the whole thing, Reggie came to reveal how they are just like their parents.
Amidst all of this, Toni was willing to talk about the custody of baby Anthony with Kevin before the fog came into play. Kevin spent the night with Moose while Toni spent trying to calm Fangs down. Still, the next day in the morning, when Kevin called, Fangs decided to let him know that he is dragging him to the court.
Coming to Cheryl and Penelope, Cherly tried to figure out why her mother really has returned. After threatening her mother with her new powers, Penelope revealed that she came to tell her about Heather’s letters. Heather and Cheryl were a couple before they got caught and the former had to move away. Heather kept writing. Reading these letters after all these years brought Cheryl into tears.
Towards the end of the episode, Tabitha lets Jughead know that she lied about going back in time and preventing the time bomb. She actually went back to see 1,384 scenarios but every time Percival won. They need these powers to defeat him and preventing the bomb blast won’t help them.
Lastly, we don’t get to know about Betty’s pregnancy test result. Veronica finally decides to cover her father’s portrait. The episode closes with Percival Pickens declared as a Mayor by the council after they decided to dissolve themselves without Tabitha being present.
Riverdale Season 6 Episode 12 Review
Riverdale Season 6 Episode 12 turned out to be a break for the characters in their battle against Pickens which has been brewing every episode since his arrival. The fog and lockdown in the episode over here gives everyone a chance to connect with each other and fix their own lives as the mission to defeat Pickens is left aside for time being.
The night saw some relationships like Betty and Archie taking a new step while relationships like Veronica and Reggie’s almost came to a possible reconciliation. We believe there is still hope for Veronica and Reggie to come together again after this episode. After all, they really don’t want to be like their parents.
The arcs of Kevin and Cheryl on the other hand worked more or less like fillers if they are not going anywhere in the coming episodes. Lastly, the show also explored the time travel powers of Tabitha a little as she pulled off a Dr. Strange move by going into the future to see possible outcomes of their battle with Pickens. On top of that, she even teased that our heroes need their superpowers to battle a coming war.
Lastly, it was crazy to believe that the characters actually decided to move away from their mission because of the fog. They were still with someone and could have figured out their next move. They had to know that Pickens will use this time, and he did fairly by making himself Mayor. So another win for Pickens.
