‘Extraordinary You’ is the first K-drama in which Rowoon played the lead and charmed everyone with his pure and impeccable character of Haru. An unconventional high school rom-com, the show revolves around a high school girl named Dan Oh who, despite being born into a rich family, can’t live a happy life owing to her weak heart condition. Moreover, she is engaged to her childhood love and classmate, Baek Gyung, who has no love or respect for her whatsoever. Suddenly, Dan Oh begins to experience weird things around her till she comes to know that she is not a human being but a character from a webtoon. Not to mention, she isn’t even the main character but an “extra” who is destined to die in the story.
Determined not to let her life be controlled by the webtoon’s author, she decides to change her fate. However, nothing she does seems to bring about any change. It is an action drama-fantasy that follows a man named Choi Joon Woong, who is skilled in almost everything he does but hasn’t been able to land himself a job in a long time. Frustrated with his life, while moving across the Han river, he discovers a man trying to jump into the river and end his life. It’s then that he comes across Koo Ryeon and Im Ryoog Gu, two grim reapers who come from the crisis management team specializing in saving people from committing suicide.
While trying to save the old man, Joon Woong falls into the river and slips into a state of coma. Koo Ryeon, the manager of the team, informs a half-human and half-spirit Joon Woong that he will wake up after three years. However, if he works as a member of the crisis management team, he can wake up in his body in six months. Thus, Joon Woong becomes the newest member of the company, and together with his team, he saves people who have given up on their will to live.
