BOL4 or Bolbbalgan4 has finally revealed her new concept film for her new mini-album, “Seoul.” BOL4 is also known as “Blushing Youth,” and they initially started out as a musical act in 2016, under the label, Shofar Music.
BOL4 was initially a music act duo, shared between Ahn Ji Young and Woo Ji Yoon. But after a spilt two years ago, BOL4 remains a solo act consisting of Ahn Ji Young. The duo appeared on “Superstar K9” before its official debut. Their first song was “Fight Day” from the mini-album Red Ickle on April 22, 2016.
For some time, BOL4 actually went on a temporary hiatus due to Ahn Ji Young’s prior music class commitments. This was four years ago in the year 2018. Bolbbalgan4 signed with King Records and debuted in Japan on June 5, 2019, with the mini-album Red Planet (Japan Edition).

BOL4 Seoul Music Video Concept
This music video concept starts off with the bright blue summer skies of Seoul, and as the camera moves, the viewers can see that they are on some sort of a highway. With shaky camera movements, the viewers encounter Converse canvas shoes in pastel blue and pink. The next series of shots are of Ahn Ji Young, who is looking out over the sea and is playing with her brightly colored orange hair as well. Ahn Ji Young seems to be content and at peace.
While the previous shots were in color, the next few shots are in black and white, with the characteristic shaky camera movement, making this short video feel like a documentary. Even when in black and white, Ahn Ji Young makes direct eye contact with the camera, and she is throwing some brilliant smiles the audience’s way.
Clad in a gauzy and fairy-like pale green dress that hits Ahn Ji Young just below the knees, we can see that she is traveling the city of Seoul while looking directly into the camera at times. After this tiny montage of Ahn Ji Young, the audience is met with silhouettes of the city, from a train cross passing to leaves blowing in the air.
Now, Ahn Ji Young has changed her dress to a more feminine and elegant pink dress, and she is seen gazing out into the city with a pensive expression on her face. In many shots, half of her face is obscured by her arms as she looks out over the city. Matching this dreamy theme, there are bubbles in the new frame as well.
Taking on a more mature dress code, Ahn Ji Young is present in a bedroom with the Seoul skyline being projected on her face. Matching the noir theme, the camera follows Ahn Ji Young strolling through the streets of Seoul at nighttime, with the lights twinkling beyond her as well.
There is another outfit change as we see Ahn Ji Young taking a tour of Seoul at night. She is seen adorning a red outfit with white lapels – a strong contrast with the dark city skyline, and the video ends. You can check this art film out here!
Where is BOL4 now?
Woo Ji Yoon’s exit from BOL4 sparked a flurry of rumors. Many people assumed she departed because she didn’t get enough opportunities to succeed on her own. It was also believed that the two members had a strained relationship and that she had been mistreated.
After Woo Ji Yoon started releasing new solo songs (“Dodo” and “Island”) with lyrics that seem to point toward Ahn Ji Young, rumors about the two having a falling out, grew. Ji Young unfollowed Ji Yoon on SNS because she felt that the song was about her.
Woo also mentioned that they wanted to wrap things up properly, but Jiyoung wanted to get rid of her as soon as possible, thus she left the team quicker than she expected.
Jiyoon’s statement prompted Ahn Jiyoung to admit that she was saddened when she learned of Jiyoon’s desire to leave BOL4 through the agency instead of directly from her. She went on to say that she didn’t want to make their final album unless she had genuine feelings for them.
