The episode starts with Mikasa on the Azumabito boat pondering about Eren’s Change. “Everyone says Eren has changed. I’ve thought that, too. But… maybe all of us are wrong.” Mikasa Narrates. The episode was an epic ending to end a season. With the final episode “Dawn of Humanity” Attack On Titan: Final Season Part 2 has come to an end. The episode has covered two chapters from the manga.
The two chapters that the studio covered in the final episode of Attack On Titan: Final Season Part 2 were Chapters 123 and 130. It’s probably for the best that Mappa Studios skipped that chapter and pushed it up to where it belongs. The episode was superbly crafted. It revealed several very crucial characteristics of Eren. His perspective on his time in Marley, as well as his question to Mikasa about what she thinks of him, were both quite emotional. So, let’s do the breakdown of the Final Episode of Attack On Titan: Final Season Part 2.
The Island Devils
Chapter no. 123 “Island Devils” covers the first half of the episode. In the manga, this chapter was right after the part where Eren was shot by Sasha and he starts transforming into the giant founding titan that he is now. The Mappa Studio did it differently and I must say it was better this way. We finally get the retrospect of the scout team’s time in the Marley. The chapter consisted of 30 panels which were shown in the final episode of Attack on Titan: Part 2. Back then many when this was omitted many fans thought this was a big blunder by Mappa Studios including me. But the studio did a brilliant job of shifting this part right before the big genocide ever in peak fiction started.
This retrospect was really important as it is the final push that needed Eren to kill millions in order to protect his friends and his people. Finally, the first people from the Paradis Islands has set foot on another continent. It has always been the dream of many eldians from paradis island. The scouts were really amused by even the smallest things from Marley Island. Whereas Eren was in a state of depression. The things which he long-awaited to see are right in front of him but he is not happier with those things. Instead, he is in a sorry state, almost like he is feeling sorry for the thing he will do in the future. This is one of the brilliant parts of foreshadowing by Hajime Isayama.
Counter Attack-Mankind OST
If you were wondering which OST was playing when everyone was having a good time, then it is the alternate version of the Counter Attack-Mankind by Hiroyuki Sawano. This is one of the brilliant things about Attack on Titan or any anime in general. The OSTs give next-level energy to particular scenes. The new altered and the happier version of the Counter Attack-Mankind OST really best fit the scene. I almost shed tears knowing that this is the last time everyone is going to have a good time including Eren and Sasha. And the OST did the job.
Dawn of humanity
The second part of the final episode of Attack on Titan Part 2 picks right where after the talk among the remaining scouts and Marley soldiers. Eren narrates that it does not matter where everything began because everything that has to come is by his will. We get to see how Yelena insinuates Zeke’s Euthanisation Plan to Eren. And how all along, Eren was pretending to follow along with the plan and he gets Floch by his side.
Eren also talks to Historia about his plan and no matter who is out there he does not intend to let one harm come to his friends and paradise island. Eren expresses his feeling of how hatred towards Paradis Island and the eldians will never go away unless every other civilization is wiped out from existence.
Then we have a conversation with the Yeager brother about a girl. This conversation best defines how boys talk about the girls who they like. Eren asks if there is a situation where Ackermans are forced to protect the founder titan. Zekes explains that she does it just because she likes Eren a lot.
I want them to live and be happy.
One of the intense parts of the episode is where we see Eren cutting his leg and poking his eye out. As he does it, he narrates “I want them… to live… and be happy.” This part shows how much eren cares for his friends and will do anything to protect his friends. He wants them to live longer and be happier, even if it means killing the rest of the humanity.
The first look of Eren’s Founding titan and the Rumbling.
The first ever destruction of the Rumbling is shown in the anime and gotta say, it was really epic. Hundreds of colossal swimming in the sea. The allied forces of the whole world are not even able to scratch Eren’s founding titan. As the episode ends, Eren narrates “I’ll wipe out… every last one of them… from this world!”
For the next episode, we will have to till the next year. The next season is going to be the final part of the final season. You can watch the latest episode by clicking here.
