Even though Ian Cardoni was replaced as the show’s voice actor for the seventh season by Justin Roiland, fans of the well-known adult animated sitcom Rick and Morty haven’t stopped watching for a good laugh. Disregard the fact that the cartoonist was dismissed for inappropriate behaviour. Instead, we’re going to take a different route and look at what happened in the first two episodes.
The episode has so far introduced us to Mr. Poopybutthole, Rick’s visitation with Susan Sarandon’s character, Dr. Wong, and a few other narrative lines. As the season goes on, though, it seems as though the show is crafting a story within the backstories of its supporting cast members.
With 62 episodes produced thus far, we’re less than halfway through this animated science fiction series, which is currently going through a restructuring phase. Even though Rick and Morty now have new voices following Justin Roiland’s departure, much of their absurd, silly antics remain. Possibly the most intriguing season to date is the 7th.
Recap
After returning from a recent journey, Rick and Morty get into a fight because Rick is fed up with Morty’s constant whining. Instead of telling Rick to stop if he hates it so much, Morty gives him a drink and works on an enigmatic project before revealing he’s Evil Morty and murdering Rick.
Then, in an attempt to kill Rick and capture Morty, Evil Morty and a new Rick go to several realities, which finally leads to the original location of Rick. All of this is a flashback. Then, as seen in Season 3, the flashback shows how Evil Morty eventually arrived at the Citadel and gained control of it.
At the end of Season 5, Evil Morty managed to leave Rick’s multiverse. It’s revealed that Evil Morty winds up in an odd new dimension where other individuals have created their own multiverse travelling devices after the opening title card.
Although it’s a hazardous location, Evil Morty is cunning enough to protect himself and continue exploring other universes while fending off other people who appear to be doing the same. Amidst the horrors of this new universe, Evil Morty has created a paradise for himself, but it’s collapsing as Rick keeps working on the Central Finite Curve to imprison decoy Rick Primes.
When Evil Morty confronts Rick and Morty about his actions, Rick reveals that he is “fracking” the Central Finite Curve to apprehend Rick Prime. After that, Evil Morty offers a strategy to make the hunt easier, and he manages to apprehend a unique Rick Prime.
After an argument between Evil Morty and Rick, Morty murders the captive Rick Prime, causing the decoy to transform into a black goo and fall victim to an unknown trap. There are a lot of other Ricks in it who have also been looking for Rick Prime, and they’ve all had varying degrees of success.
At this point, Rick Prime appears on a visual to announce the beginning of the next round and to explain that the Omega Device, a potent new weapon, has been used to wipe out all of their Dianes from every reality.
As he makes a threat that one of them will win back Diane by being the only Rick still alive, the other Ricks begin to fight. Rick and Evil Morty then decide to collaborate to murder the other Rick who had survived when it comes down to only the two Mortys and Rick.
Rick Prime claims to have a Diane once the battles are over, and it is later discovered that this Diane was modified into a sort of super weapon. Curious about Rick Prime’s murder of Diane in every reality, the two Mortys quickly make their getaway using a combination of Evil Morty’s and Rick’s portal guns.
