Disney+ has formally debuted a series based on Stefania Auci’s best-selling 2019 book “The Lions of Sicily,” which is about the Florio family. According to the US production company, there was some filming in Sicily and Rome. Ludovica Rampoldi and Paolo Genovese, the show’s director, collaborated on the screenplays.
The compelling story of the Florio family is found in The Lions of Sicily. Ignazio and Paolo, two siblings who work as menial spice traders, are depicted in it. They fled Calabria because they felt trapped in the past and attempted to ask for forgiveness from others. They see a future in Sicily where they turn a dilapidated shop into a thriving enterprise, which Paolo’s little son Vincenzo will someday expand into an empire through his creative ideas.
But Vincenzo’s life and the lives of the entire family are turned upside down by the entrance of Giulia, a strong and intelligent woman who defies the rigid social mores of the time.
The epic The Lions of Sicily spans the years 1861–1861, encompassing victories, revolutions, wars, and love. It is set in 19th-century Sicily. The cast of the production includes Ester Pantano, Adele Cammarata, Paolo Briguglia, Eduardo Scarpetta, Donatella Finocchiaro, Michele Riondino, and Miriam Leone.
Plot
What if you wake up one day and decide to launch your own company, which takes off and becomes one of the finest in the area, but intelligent ladies start showing up and threaten to undo all of your hard work?
The business that two brothers, Paolo and Ignazio Florio, founded and quickly grew into an economic empire in Sicily will be the subject of an upcoming historical drama series. However, everything the two brothers worked on together and the family’s way of life will be upended by the arrival of a bright woman.
The show tells the story of Paolo and Ignazio, two brothers who were small-time spice traders who fled Calabria in pursuit of social atonement. They established a successful business in Sicily by renovating a rundown store. The entrance of Giulia, a bright lady who adhered to strict social norms at the time and wanted things done her way, puts Vincenzo’s entire family life and business in jeopardy.
The television show is based on actual events that followed El Florio’s family, affluent Silcily lords surrounded by aspirational individuals. The show will immerse viewers in the inner workings of the El Florio family, starting with Paolo, the man who founded the Florio empire, and ending with his son and grandson, who squandered the family’s riches on parties, while the women in the El Florio family are strong and independent.
It describes how the two brothers, who had nothing but the clothing on their backs when they arrived in Sicily, worked a variety of tasks before rising to the position of wealthy lord. Against all obstacles, the family chooses to start afresh, and Vincenzo, having been rejected by his aristocratic sweetheart for being impoverished, resolves to become the wealthiest man in Italy.
