With just one episode away from the season’s finale of Miracle Workers’ fourth run, we have many things to unpack in this iteration titled “End Times.” The show, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Steve Buscemi, and a huge ensemble cast, manages to capture you with its anthology of humorous skits and takes on contemporary issues as the characters manage to work a celestial desk job.
Now, considering those aspects, let us unpack a few things that went down in this episode ahead of the season’s finale, one that might give us a few shockers and even a cliffhanger or two. Because for all that’s worth, the show is good in character story arc development, and that’s always a good thing in my book as it shows consistent scriptwriting.
Miracle Workers Season 4 Episode 9 Recap
This episode is titled “John Christ.” It is the ninth of the ten-episode run ordered, and it is setting things up for the season’s finale. In the episode, we see how Sid is commenting to Scraps that he’s having a child with Freya. But all of a sudden, Scraps diverts their attention to some sound that makes him get out of the house, only to end up in the desert.
What’s that sound Scraps is hearing? It’s Freya making noise to lure Scraps out of town. Freya wants to get in warlord mode, driving with Scraps in a Mad Max sort of way, shooting and driving recklessly. Scraps aren’t happy about Freya being knocked up. Tries to hide it, but then it becomes evident. Still, they have fun in that Mad Max meets Borderlands sort of way:
They visit a strip mall in shambles; that visit surprises Freya because she realizes that many hoodlums are gathered there to bring out a massive confrontation in Freya’s honor as a goodbye present. After that, we move to Boomtown, where Morris and Sid are working. Meanwhile, John Christ was leading an insurrection of the anti-robot kind against the Skynet version of this show.
Morris wants to get rid of John Christ and his demonstrators; it’s bad for business, but John Christ’s antics end up convincing Sid to join his side only to see John Christ accusing Sid of being “The Man.”
Tai arrives at Neuralnet and has a chat with an AI leader of the robotic masses who informs Tai they will be taken offline. Still, after a few dialogues that include pop culture references to fashion reality shows and more Terminator-related skits and innuendos, we’re left wondering what will go down.
We move back to Scraps and Freya at the strip mall, where a mass gang war is taking place; the entire scene —also— has pop culture references to many movies and Broadway musicals. We conclude with everybody meeting back together and left wondering what will happen to Tai.

Miracle Workers Season 4 Episode 9 Review
“John Christ” concludes with a cliffhanger, that one being the humanity status of Tai. Does it mean that the robots will take over in a sort of Terminator Skynet way? That’s something that the season’s finale will have to tell us.
This episode also shows us how Freya’s last warlording tour is one she’s enjoying the hell out of because when the warlording is done, she’ll be stuck at home bearing a child. What will Freya tell Tai concerning her pregnancy? In any case, the final episode must answer many questions that this fast-paced episode that took us all over the place put on the table.
I trust that the scriptwriters will bring a logical season finale to this. Otherwise, I am going to be disappointed in them. They’ve had a good run so far this season story-wise, and I’d hate to see them drop the ball at the last minute.
In any case, the stage is set for a good conclusion to this season, I feel we might see a cliffhanger for the next season or two or some shockers. But one thing is for sure: Miracle Workers is almost done.
