An action-filled romance like no other, the film Ghosted by Dexter Fletcher has managed to hit the right spot for fellow light-hearted rom-com lovers. Starring Ana de Armas and Chris Evans, the movie revolves around their characters, Sadie and Cole, as they try to find love despite the huge differences in their lifestyle.
The story is provided by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and produced by David Ellison. Production for the movie was announced back in August, with Chris and Scarlett Johansson set to be the main cast. Scarlett, however, had to leave the role due to a mismatch of schedules, causing Ana de Armas to be selected as the protagonist. This wasn’t a bad pairing, as Ana and Chris have worked with each other in other films like The Gray Man and Knives Out.
Other cast members that we see throughout the film include Adrien Brody, Mike Moh, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, and Lizzie Broadway. Ryan Reynolds has a short cameo in the film as well. Ghosted can be regarded as a fun film to watch if you’re looking for something simple and entertaining. There’s not much to expect from the film in terms of the complexity of the storyline.
Ghosted: What Happens In The Film?
When Cole visits the farmer’s market, he helps out a plant seller by taking care of the shop in her place. At the same time, Sadie, who is secretly a CIA Agent, tries to buy a plant that needs less maintenance from Cole. They get along well, and Cole asks Sadie on a date. They spend the whole day together, but Cole finds that Sadie has already left him when he wakes up the next day. She ghosts Cole’s messages, and he almost loses all hope until he finds out that he accidentally left his inhaler in her car.
The inhaler had a tracker on it, which helped Cole in locating Sadie, who was in London. He takes a flight for the very first time in his life but unfortunately is captured when he reaches the location in London, as he falls into a trap set for “The Taxman”. He is tortured by Leveque, who assumes he is the Taxman and knows the passcode for obtaining a highly dangerous bio-weapon called Aztec.
Just then, Sadie walks in and manages to save Cole from Leveque, only to see that they are now stranded in Pakistan and are chased by Leveque’s men through Khyber Pass. Sadie and Cole eventually reach a nearby town where Sadie comes across one of her old lovers. She tries to send Cole back to America using his help, while she decides to stay back and get the Aztecs back from Leveque. This plan is unfortunately ruined when a bounty is put on Cole’s head, and the duo is attacked by bounty hunters. Sadie comes up with a plan that involves using Cole as bait to get Aztecs.
The plan fails once again, and the duo is stranded on an island after their plane crashes. Sadie and Cole reconnect and are saved by US Marines just in time. When they go back at the CIA headquarters, Cole is selected to be a part of the mission, while Sadie is excluded from it. He was sent to a meeting with Mr. Utami and Leveque, where he was going to provide the password. Leveque pressurizes Cole to reveal the password and threatens to shoot him, but Sadie manages to walk in right as Cole’s held on gun point.
She steals Aztecs, and a gunfight erupts in the revolving restaurant. Leveque and the others end up dying in the shooting. A few months later, we see Cole and Sadie having a fun family lunch after they finally accept that they love each other. The movie ends with them going out for a date in between Sadie’s CIA mission.
