Amy Jo Johnson is a 52-year-old Canadian and American actress, musician, and filmmaker as of April 2023. She has been active since 199. So, she started her career as the Pink Ranger in Power Ranger television shows and movies. She got nominated for five awards and won three.
Three music albums of Amy include New Broken (released in 2013), Imperfect (released in 2005), and The Trans-American Treatment (2001). She has also directed two short films: Lines (released in 2014) and Bent (released in 2013).

Amy’s Journey As The Pink Power Ranger
On the one hand, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers brought her international popularity and salary. On the other hand, some workers, like Amy, got paid only $600 per week. The payment included stunt and public appearances with no standardized safety codes and royalty for the repeated episodes.
Thus, Amy faced some dangerous situations while shooting. For instance, she was about to get electrocuted once and set on fire the other time. She left the show in 1995 and passed the responsibility of being a Pink Ranger to Catherine Sutherland.
After moving out of the franchise, she stated that her journey and fame were a bit embarrassing and gave her nightmares though she learned a lot. Similarly, she thanked the show and her fans. Associated with Jason David Frank, she again appeared as a stranger in the Power Rangers movie in 2017.

Why Did Amy Leave Power Rangers
The cast met again on the 30th anniversary of the show and the premiere of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always on 19 April 2023, but Amy was absent. Even her name did not get announced for the reunion. She appeared in the show ‘Turbo: A Power Ranger’ in 1997.
Amy could be present in only 138 episodes of the show, the first part of Power Rangers. She played the role from 1993 to 1995. Amy tweeted in January 2023 that she never declined the offer but did not even say yes. However, she is excited to see how other actors perform in the running show.
It got claimed that Amy got out of the show for financial reasons. However, she stated that money was not the reason for her withdrawal. Amy is in her 50s and wants to stay away from spandex or might want to go to NZ. However, she wants to keep the real reason secret.
Amy claims to have a bunch of excuses. She was working on other projects, got busy with her 14-year-old kid, and moved to the direction and writing almost a decade ago. She explained that she was absent from the reunion as she had to focus on writing the comic book.
The Green Ranger, Jason David Frank, also did not appear for the reunion, but he had a different reason than Amy. However, she again cheered the current actors of the show through her tweet.
After Getting Out Of Power Rangers
Amy Jo Johnson moved on after getting out of the show in 1995. She did not know about the disappointed fans and her fan following due to the absence of social media and the internet.
It looks like Amy got out of the show but not the franchise.
During the pandemic, Amy’s boyfriend advised her to pour her heart into the Pink Ranger through a comic book. However, it will be her style. So, it will not be according to the original version.
Accordingly, Amy will get associated with Matt Hotson (her boyfriend and director) to write it. Boom Studios will publish it. For that, she watched the episodes of the original show that she did not watch at all! She will thank her adult fans, who have been teenagers since she joined the show in 1995, through the comic series.
It will act as a love letter to her fans, according to Amy, as they supported her throughout her career changes over these years. After 1997, Amy appeared in several movies like ‘Without Limits, Pursuit Of Happiness, Cold Hearts, Liars Club, Islander, and more. Some of the television shows she has appeared in include Perfect Body, Fatal Trust, Cracked, and Flashpoint.
