Pokémon Horizons: The Series is the latest series from the Pokémon Franchise. This will be the first time in the Franchise that Ash Ketchum is not the Titular Character. In Pokémon Horizons, the star of the show is Lico. She is a beginner Pokémon trainer from the Paldea Region. She has some pretty giant shoes to fill. Will she be able to fill the Ash Ketchum-sized holes in our hearts?
Furthermore, In Pokémon Horizons: The Series, Lico will share the spotlight with Roy. He, too, is a beginner. He has not yet made his debut. The little information we have on him is that he is from Kanto Region. His starter Pokémon is Fuecoc, a Fire-Type Pokémon with an appearance resembling a Crocodile but in a Teddybear-ish way. He has in his possession a mysterious-looking Pokéball.
We can know more after his official debut, quite possibly in Pokémon Horizons: The Series Episode 3. In the 1hr Special Pilot episode, we are introduced to a lot of characters. It’s refreshing how they revealed the Main Villain this early into the show. Very excited to see all the new adventures Lico and Roy will be going on in the future. Hopefully, Pokémon Horizons will not disappoint.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series Recap
As far as pilot episodes go, it does not get better than this. They did an amazing job with the character introductions, the world-building, setting the pace, and everything. Looks like Liko is an excellent replacement for Ash Ketchum. Just like him, Lico also had trouble getting along with her starter Pokémon, Sprigatito. Sprigattito is a Grass Type pokemon.
The series draws out focus toward a mysterious pendant. It was a gift from Lico’s grandmother. Its significance is not yet known. However, there seem to be outside forces who want to get their hands on it. They seem to play the role Team Rocket played back during the Classic Pokémon Series. They are called the Explorers. Led by Amejio, they pursued Lico for her pendant.
However, she was saved by Frieda, who is the leader of the Rising Vortechers. But not before we saw what the pendant was capable of. While Frieda was keeping Amejio busy, Lico tried to escape. However, Amejio noticed this and attacked her from behind. However, before she can get hit, she is enveloped in a bright light, and we see her unscathed within a force field around her.
Frieda brings her aboard his airship, where we meet Captain Pikachu. He is Frieda’s Partner and is as cute as ever. The Explorers catch up to the airship where Frieda and Amejio have their second battle. The Battle is between Captain Pikachu and Cereludge. Cereludge is a Fire and Ghost-type Pokémon, making it an extremely powerful foe. However, he was no match for Pikachu.
However, Lico decides to give The Explorers what they want. She surrenders and agrees to go with them if they promise to let the others go free. Sprigattito did not like that decision at all. She jumps out of Lico’s arms and fires a strong energy blast-type attack. However, Sprigattito lost balance and fell off the side of the airship right into the arms of The Explores.
Pokémon Horizons: The Series Spoilers
Sprigattito was kidnapped by The Explorers, and we can assume what exactly their end goal is. They are after the pendant that is around Lico’s neck. The pendant showcased its abilities when Lico was in danger. We can only imagine what other abilities it’s hiding. For the time being, it’s acting as a protective charm. We might get to see what else it’s capable of in the upcoming episode.
Amejio will likely propose a prisoner exchange. In exchange for freeing Sprigattito, they will ask Lico to give up her Pendant. Even though they haven’t known each other for that long, her kind-hearted nature will not allow her to abandon Sprigattito. Since they are the show’s antagonists, we can assume that they have no intention of keeping their word.
This is a real possibility since they saw Sprigattito’s power when he defeated Amejio’s Cereludge in one move. We can also expect to meet Roy in this episode. Maybe they will run into him while Lico and the others are on their way to rescue Sprigattito. That mysterious Pokéball he had might come into play. Maybe it’s related to the pendant in some way.
