The quality of anime to take us afloat to a whole new world never stops amazing me. It’s this very reason why anime is such a great escape from the harsh realities. When one moment you stand facing existential crisis, the next you could be flying among dragons and becoming the hero who defeats the demon lord. Through the escapades into a whole new world, we see a new angle of perceiving things. This is the impact that some of the best adventure anime have put on me.
I bet I am not the only one seeking this escape from time to time. In this horrible time of pandemic, I bet most of us resorted to watching (binging) anime to experience the open world. As humans, we are constantly in search for an adventure, something that can have our adrenaline rushing. So when a certain anime is finally able to deliver the best, we find ourselves in a vicious loop of constantly searching for similar anime on the net. Adventure anime are abundant, but finding the best adventure anime among them could be challenging.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic gives the most accurate magical ride that even most highest-rated anime fail to deliver at times. I like to describe Magi as a mature fairy tale. Everything in the anime has a bright setting. It gives its viewers a lot to learn from as well. The anime lets its audience into a world of dungeons, wizards, and magic battles! Magi has a wide range of characters, each of which contributes to the story. Even the weakest characters have tons to like about them. Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic is one of the best adventure anime one can come across, and I recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy the adventure genre in anime.

Seven Deadly Sins
Seven Deadly Sins is a very popular anime, and I doubt there’s someone who hasn’t at least even heard of it. The anime’s fantasy setting and action sequences make it a treat. It has a good background backing up its main plot. It has a very adventurous vibe around it that is executed with precision. As viewers, our eyes wander with Elizabeth. Through her, we meet the sins, get acquainted with them, and witness the new world with awe. The anime is built very cleverly too as it develops through flashbacks. The Seven Deadly Sins anime has come a long way at the time of writing. Even with the flaws that it has acquired with its growing number of seasons, the anime has always won over its fans by making up for them one way or the other.

Soul Eater
On the surface, Soul Eater gives off a very light impression. The story does not look too serious, and it looks too focused on the humor. This is probably one of the reasons why viewers often drop it after the first few episodes. However, as the story progresses, one would see the deeper and intense storyline it had been building up all the while. Soul Eater is fun, interesting and can also get its viewers hooked on to it. The anime is wrapped in a lot of comedy, and it also maintains its action and fantasy genre equally well. Soul Eater is a great anime that has very adorable characters. Every character is involved with the story and shows development throughout, even if just a little.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
After the failure of the first adaptation, the franchise of Fullmetal Alchemist took the anime for a complete spin and did a remake. The remake has been a big hit and proof of how an anime can succeed by sticking to the source manga. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood has a great pacing and amazing characterization. The anime feels perfectly placed and a complete treat for anyone who loves watching adventure anime with great animation. For the plot, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood comes with great twists and development. The flow is very smooth, keeping its viewers interested through the end. Add it with an amazing voice cast, and you will see the entirety of one of the best adventure anime you have ever encountered.

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing On This Wonderful World
Called KonoSuba in short, this is a comedy isekai anime with some of the most chaotic characters in isekai history. Some parts of the anime feel quite real. Not in a very everyday manner but rather in a ‘this could definitely happen if someone was teleported to a different world’ manner. KonoSuba’s humor is chaotic. From time to time, you would find yourself asking what exactly the characters are doing, all the while rocking your head back laughing. But humor is far from being the only thing why the anime is included in a list of the best adventure anime. The anime explores a new world through quests. There are dangers in these quests that the characters deal with in their own ways as well. KonoSuba is quite an entertainment that gives its viewers a taste of many things at once.

Mushishi
Among most of the blood-rushing anime on the list, Mushishi is a slow-going peaceful anime but with just as much of an adventurous ring around it. The anime is episodic, meaning every episode has its own motive with no follow-up from the previous or to the next episode. There is a lot of originality in the show, so there is no point in expecting something cliched or usual in this anime. Mushishi single-handedly brings forth beautiful visuals, new regions, and varied fantasy elements without resorting to violence or action. The experience of watching Mushishi is serene, especially with its beautiful OSTs. In anime like Mushishi, art is one of its most powerful weapons. The anime’s cursive lines and brilliant portrayal of the supernatural make it an outstanding watch and completely worth the hours of binging.

Akame ga Kill
Akame ga Kill is a very entertaining anime that also touches on many thought-provoking topics. It primarily centers around the corruption of the royalty. To retaliate against them, the anime’s other prime focus is a group of rebels, each gifted with a special weapon. Akame ga Kill leaves a very deep imprint on people’s minds with its indulging plot and mind-blowing action. The anime has quite a bit of gore as well. I find Akame ga Kill developed with a lot of creativity. The thought comes especially from all the different Imperial Teigu we see on the show that is so diverse and creatively inserted in the story. Akame ga Kill’s dark setting complements the badass characters. From intense action to versatile characters, Akame ga Kill is one of the best adventure anime that everyone should watch.

Kino’s Journey
As the name suggests, Kino’s Journey is literally about the journey of Kino. As she journeys on her motorcycle, she explores new places, meets new people, and survives harsh circumstances. As adventurous as it seems, Kino’s Journey is a very dark anime at times. It’s not even about the new people she meets but also about their cultures and absurd laws. From Kino’s eyes, we see the world and its dark edges. What is right? What is legal? The perspective can change so much from person to person. Kino’s Journey is a true adventure. The main character, Kino, is one of the most amazingly written characters one could come across. She is smart, clever, and skillful. The anime also features beautiful visuals that constantly keep your mind at peace despite the dark themes it often serves.

Claymore
Claymore takes the audience on a bloody journey. Raki and Clare travel from town to town, defeating ‘youma’ – demons who feed on human flesh. One of the topmost best qualities of the anime is that it is very clever. The plot has many intelligent twists that impress its viewers the most. The characters have good backstories that not only give us a lot to sympathize with them but also attract us towards them and to know more about them. Claymore does not have any out-of-the-box elements. The tools it uses are quite generic. However, the way the anime makes use of different elements is what makes all the difference. Claymore’s pacing is one to be proud of. It does not drag along a story too much, keeping the plot smooth sailing. A story about revenge, Claymore molds itself episode after episode towards very admirable progress.

No Game No Life
No Game No Life is one of my personal favorites from Madhouse’s collection. The anime, for starters, is very entertaining. Its characters are witty, quirky, and geniuses. No Game No Life has a very unique concept of an isekai that makes it a very interesting anime. Set in a world where conflicts are resolved through games, No Game No Life takes the world of fantasy to a whole new level. If what most people look for in an adventure anime is great fantasy, drama, and danger, this is the anime they should try. Its cute art style adds up as a bonus. If you are planning to binge No Game No Life, be prepared to meet cute elves, cute were-beasts, and many other cute fantasy creatures that are sure to steal your heart.
